There were a lot of reports of military convoys going from Iraq into eastern Syria before the the invasion started. I think that most of Saddam’s chemical weapons were in those convoys.

I still remember a documentary on the history channel that showed truck after truck traveling out of Iraq to Syria under cover of night. Night vision cameras were used..
*****************************************

I remember seeing that film, too. My eyes were not lying.

If you take off the the partison/political glasses, you will undoubtedly come to the conclusion that George Bush was the most terrible president we have ever had. He had 911 on his watch, he never captured Bin Laden, he escorted the Bin Laden family out of the USA, Iraq War was a terrible mistake and yes probably a lie, mission accomplished, terrible leadership skills, terrible choices of executives (Karl Rove, Ari Fliesher, Dick Cheney, Dana Lamb, Colin Powel) Katrina debacle, 4 trillion in new debt, more NAFTA policies, Patriot Act, open borders, terrible PR skills, the only time he defends himself or speaks is when his loser brother is failing in the polls, 2008 financial crises, and last but not least....he got Obama elected!! That is a fact! McCain and Palin were winning until the economy crashed! Trump has every right to be angry over George Bush. And we should be just as angry as he is!

Not only those trucks but James Clapper, current National Security Director indeed has said he thinks Iraq had WMDs and hid them. Clapper is Obama’s selection so that right there tells one something. This is talked about in his wiki bio.

I don’t remember that, I remember him discussing known WMD Sites, That’s a little different from saying know know where the WMDs are.

In case you don’t remember, these WMD Sites were found.

They had Russian escorts (?Spetz?) and were last seen entering the Baka Valley. Would’t be surprised if the Chems turned over by Assad a few years ago were those same Chems.

If trump said this really then he is lying or misinformed
I hope misinformed

Trump is not yet receiving daily national security briefings nor does he have access to classified information unless he was on Hillary’s email list

I wish Trump would stop running against George Bush and focus on running against liberalism

It is a fact that Trump saw none of the Intelligence prior to war. Those reports showed Saddam having chemical weapons. All US Services prepared for the certainty of meeting a chemical threat. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person on this forum with first hand knowledge of that effort. Saddam did not comply with the UN Mandates either. Trump's "knowledge" is from his liberal milieu where he accepts their charges without regard for facts. Support Trump if you really want another dilettante amateur in the White House. And, lastly, there were chemical weapons found in Iraq, not in the quantities feared, but they were there. And they prove that Saddam did not comply with the UN Mandate. Now, Trump will say anyone who says otherwise than what he says is a liar, and he'll get away with it because he's not required to run a campaign based on facts. Trump gets his foreign policy information from what he calls "the shows." He is not well-informed on intelligence information; he is a philistine.

Nice try, but my opinion on the Bushes has nothing to do with Donald Trump. I lived through both of their presidencies. Both went to war. Jeb said last night he would go in, too.

Eff the Bushes. How many dead Americans do they need?

Does any think G. W. Bush used 9-11 to go into Iraq.

He had CENTCOM planning an Iraq invasion very shortly thereafter according to GEN Tommy Franks' memoirs.

See my post above

Once trump starts getting access to classified information it will change him in an extraordinary way

The average mega corporate businessman has no idea of the reality underlying international affairs

Especially the factors that affect decisions to use military force

Just as deep and profound a response as your one sentence analysis of the basis for the Iraq invasion deserved

Go back to DU, oh strategic wonder
You will be among fellow strategic thinkers

..Jeb took a week with Meghan Kelly to finally denounce the Iraq.

Clearly, there's a difference between knowledge at the time and hindsight. Would it be so hard to say that things didn't turn out as GWB and his advisers envisioned? Even though Obama screwed it up even more by abandoning Iraq later?

The problem with that for Jeb! is that he's trying to benefit from GWB's aura. Unfortunately, while the perception is that GWB meant well, the results call his judgement into question, and hence the value of his endorsement.

Just adding generally to the conversation, there seemed to be an article that was published questioning whether one can find that Trump was strongly against the Iraq invasion so that in itself needs to be examined.

There is a video of Trump saying at the time that he thought GW Bush was doing a good job.

So, perhaps Trump thought it was a bad idea but the evidence may not really be out there proving this unless something else has been found.
