Bernie Sanders says Uber's employees are treated unfairly, so why does his campaign use Uber for 100% of its taxi rides?

Bernie Sanders has criticized Uber for not having the same government regulations, worker protections, and employee benefits as regular taxi companies.

However, public campaign records show that Sanders’ campaign has actually used Uber for 100% of its taxi rides.

I would love to hear Sanders explain his hypocrisy.

Maybe he is doing it to help the Uber drivers out and raise awareness of how they are treated? Just a guess.

I imagine there must be more important things for him to talk about than uber drivers though....

In a liberal’s perverted mind, no one is treated fairly unless they live in a communist or socialist country.

Uber is also an extremely easy organization to quit. Just turn off their app on your phone and you are no longer a contractor. So why do they still have a hundred thousand drivers? Bernie understands that people drive by their own choice and doesn’t like that choice, so hw will fix that.

All these poor people working AT WILL for a company that allows them to work AT WILL on their own schedule on their own time.

Clownish idiot.

Everyone is equal and treated fairly in North Korea. Except the boss.

If they don’t regulate and tax a business, how do you expect them to extort campaign contributions?

Well, I’d say there’s a lot of Uber drivers because of Obama’s economy. A lot of unemployed, middle-aged white men driving their cars around!

Imagine the prices if they are paid “fairly”!. Uber costs about 50 bucks for a 3 mile ride right now!

excellent points.

If Uber drivers are so exploited, why are so many wanting to work for Uber?

Uber exists due to willing buyers and willing sellers of the service coming together, and riders get their ride to where they need to go. Uber drivers do it to get paid and if they weren’t earning enough to make it worth their while, they wouldn’t drive for Uber.

Would love to be educated on what we are missing here.

Compared to standard taxi service, Uber is more punctual, with much nicer, cleaner cars, and the drivers are by far and away more polite and appreciative. I’d say there’s a price differential for a reason, it’s more like a private car service than a cab.

If they can get something better, they will take it and quit Uber of their own free will. If it is their current best option, why would Bernie want to take that away?

Really? Uber sure is no bargain then. I thought taxi companies complained about being undercut?

Then again, if a willing buyer and willing seller come together to agree on the price, that’s just free enterprise happening.

That was beside the point I was making. Which is that it’s sad the economy is still in the toilet so that so many men must take to Uber - which doesn’t pay very well although of course, no one is forcing them to do it.

Would love to be educated on what we are missing here.

Traditional cab companies have long had a chummy fascist relatioship with city governments where the city raises barriers to entry for alternatives, and the taxi companies that are allowed to operate pay the city good protection money. Uber has very deliberately upended that business model with a straight capitalist alternative. Both Bernie and Hillary hate Uber as a result.

I almost drove for Uber but did my due diligence. What I found was I’d make a maximum of $12 per hour, after expenses and Ubers fee.

So, I stuck it out and wound up getting a pretty good contract gig.

Yeah, Uber drivers are being screwed in having to pay upward of a million dollars for a medallion to be able to ply their trade... no, wait, those are standard cabs in New York being screwed by the government.

12 an hour is a good wage with Uber, I’m afraid! So glad you found something else. It serves its purpose but it’s really a lot of time, patience, for very little reward.
