The Real O'neals: A real washout

Hey everyone been taking a break for awhile and I wanted to talk about a new TV show that really isn't that new its been around for awhile and I only recently began to watch some of it at the behest of my Catholic friends. They asked me to write about it and give my take on it because this show is Anti-catholic and irreverent. Also the main character is a queer.

The writer is New York Times columnist and comedian Dan Savage, an Irish ex-Catholic homosexual liberal. Savage's articles are generally crap. Attacks on Christians, particularly catholics, attacks on capitalism, America and family values. Some of his articles are so raunchy that even the papers he works for have had to censor them. Clearly this is someone who would be a case for book burning not to mention for bringing back the inquisition. But even all the matches in the world aren't worth it for his articles or for him.

Well I watched some of it read a few reviews from different people and I can tell you it seems as though they didn't even scratch the surface. This is a TV show that is not merely anti-catholic, this is a show that is Anti-Christian and satanic. This is a show that doesn't merely slight everything sacred it vomits on it and takes a dump on it. And not in a humoring and good natured matter like in South Park I'm afraid. This show literally destroys everything sacred about family, God, Ireland and the church, Catholic and protestant and everything that is holy.

The O'neals are an Irish Catholic family with a bumbling cop father and a fanatic mother who makes pancakes with the image of Jesus and places a statue of the virgin Mary on the toilet to encourage men to put the seat down. The older brother is an anorexic jock who has visions of Jesus talking about food and the sister is a cheating larcenist and con artist.

The main character, Kenny who narrates (much like in Malcolm in the middle)is gay. The show follows some of his misadventures which includes using a condom for sex while the priest is at home with his collar on, (the priest by the way didn't donate much to charity claiming vows of poverty yet he is driving a lexus,) and facing the preasure of coming out of the closet. Other misadventures includes a take on lent that is considered sacrilege and blasphemy and another episode that attacks Palm sunday and Ash Wednsday.

I am not going to dwell on what goes on in this evil show but every facet of the Catholic church and Irish-American life is slighted. Everything from lent to Corn Beef, a staple of St Patrick's day suppers which I am looking forward to enjoying but wont as much now that I have seen this travesty of sitcom.

The reviews of this show are mostly bad. Again they underscore how trashy this show is. Its not just bad because its blasphemous and Anti-christian, its bad because its low grade trite. It doesn't just lower the bar for sitcoms it takes a crap on it.

The only good news I can report is that ratings for the show are low and its on its way out. The bad reviews plus low ratings and the constant attacks on the show seems to show that American people have had enough of this kind of garbage. That America still has a back bone and has a sense of morality and decency.

To borrow from one review from the New York post, the only people who watch shows like these are the typical low-IQ Obama voters who view reading bedtime stories to children and sitting down to meals cooked at home to be a form of white privilege. Your typical viewer of trite on the dinosaur media and Alphabet stew networks are low-IQ, unproductive putzes on welfare or if they work they work at K-mart, McDonalds or are affluent low lives living with white guilt. The O'neals among other things proves that the Basic cable has become the opium of Low-IQ Americans.

There is simply no way a working taxpayer, or someone educated beyond fifth grade, can have anything in common with the people who sit on their arses watching this nonsense.  Sheer nonsense. The government could probably write a better script.

All in all, this entire show proves just how disconnected the lame stream media is from America and the American people. I predict that after the O'neals are finally cancelled Obama and his voters will go to work censoring the internet with so called net neutrality laws and with new laws similar to SOPA, PIPA and CISPA. That way, the American people will no longer have access to the shows they want to watch and no longer be able to write their own shows that other people will watch. We will be forced to watch and accept what the liberal elite want instead.

OBSERVATIONS FROM A CONSERVATIVE CATHOLIC AND A CONSERVATIVE JEW:

Peter O'shea:No one watches s*** shows like the O'neals anymore because of the internet. Look, we got amateur producers and cartoonists on Hulu, Newgrounds, YT, Dailymotion ETC who are making higher quality shows that people want to watch. I prefer fantasy and family entertainment. Newgrounds.com has a lot of good stuff you wont find on TV including some family friendly worth while entertainment. (NOTE: We have a rule, My children cannot access the site without supervision and unless I watch it first because of the filters and because there's too much x-rated referenced material on there.)

The internet gives consumers a choice for what kind of shows they want to watch or they can make their own shows. The corporate networks which pander to low-iq unsophisticated low lives like the schmucks that supported Obama and watch football, Real O'neals and other trite cannot compete so they lobby to regulate the internet and take away our freedom of choice.

The ultimate goal of the corporate networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, ETC) and their owners (Disney, Fox, Westinghouse, GE, Warner Bros. ETC.) is to take away our right to choose and make the internet like TV was back in the 20th century: Limited choices for what to watch on a fixed schedule, TV content that the producers and network owners choose not us, Programs that are more designed to indoctrinate into materialistic secular humanism and the myth that all cultures and religions are morally pure and equal and that people in general are all good and the false paradigms of liberalism, egalitarianism, materialism and socialism.

In short, the producers and Network execs want to indoctrinate us to become hippie socialist atheists more than entertain. That and distract us.

The ultimate goal of SOPA PIPA and CISPA was to do just that. The american people said no but in the end they will try again and will succeed in making some kind of regulation. Either that or the corporations will monopolize the ISPS and block out content we want but wont let us have.

The Real O'neals will get cancelled eventually. I'm looking forward to corn beef and hash this and green beer knowing that Dan Savage and his supporters will lose out again. Then again the networks execes will probably get riled and fight back against the American consumer and their freedom to choose.

Reuben Ben Abraham:The reason that shows like the O'neals are allowed on the networks is because they go unchallenged by the public. The show's advertisers fund the networks and the shows. They target shows with high viewer potential. The O'neals initially had potential in their pilot episode since it was controversial and there was curiosity about the show's content. Now they can expect a gradual decline in viewership especially as people condemn the show and boycott it. Whether or not this show lasts more than one or two seasons is more up to the public and the advertisers than the networks.

It is the advertisers that are key to these shows. Declining viewership equals less advertisement and that means the networks cannot offer a profitable deal on advertisement spaces. At best you'll only get a small amount of money from mostly small commercials that will offer to pay less from smaller business that caters to the remaining audience.

Targeting the advertisers for boycott also makes this effective.

In the 50s this is how the only 3 channels we had were able to stay up. If the public saw a show or episode of a show that they didn't like they would phone the networks and tell them feedback. They wont watch their networks anymore if they continue to put out entertainment that's boring and bland or if the show is immoral and suggestive. Knowing that this will lead to a loss of profit, the networks cancel the show or remove the episode.

Two good examples: One was the untouchables staring Robert Stack as Elliot Ness. People objected terribly to the level of violence on some of the episodes but what really set people off was the portrayal of Italian Immigrants who made up many of the gangs in Chicago. Capone was Italian and so was Frank Nitti his successor. The show was boycotted by groups made up of Italian-Americans. The Longshoreman association, the Brooklyn Waterfront and celebrities like Frank Sinatra (who ironically was rumored to have mob connections and played as mobsters in film and TV) and even the son of Al Capone boycotted the network and the companies that advertised them.

In no time the shows producers changed their tune. No more fictional Italian gangsters more emphasis on Italian-American role in law enforcement such as Ricco Rossi, Elliot's right hand and more positive portrayals of Italians. After this, it was just Frank Nitti who acted as the few Italian antagonists. The show began to go after Gangsters who were either, German, Irish or whatever else. Mostly Germans who probably had more to do with bootlegging and illegal sales of alcohol in prohibition than the Italians did.

The next good example was See it now with Edward R. Murrow. When Murrow went after McCarthy, his real problem was not McCarthy himself but the viewers and advertisers who were anti-communist and pro-McCarthy. The show was advertised by Alcoa which worked with the government in the military-industrial complex and sold farm equipment and building material. These farmers were mostly staunch anti-communists who were slighted by Murrow's opposition to McCarthy. They dropped advertisements and they switched to Kent cigarettes. Unfortunately Murrow overcame and McCarthy was removed from power.

We can do the same thing with the O'neals. Boycott the program and if that doesn't work boycott the advertisers. I don't think it'll take too much effort. This is a show that is going in decline and most of the reviews i've read are not favorable.

I don't get just "who" the target audience is supposed to be.

Gays?

There about a zillion shows that cater just to them.

Catholics?

Nope.

Atheist liberals?

They'd be bored to tears.

Reminds me of the show "The New Normal".

The writers and the stars like Ellen Barkin hated their own "conservative" characters they played so much, that it was just painful to watch.

Good parody is subtle.

When it is too over the top, it's just sad and lame.

>>>In short, the producers and Network execs want to indoctrinate us to become hippie socialist atheists more than entertain. That and distract us.<<<

Some imbeciles continue watching crap like this because many of them are looking for ‘the least common denominator’ component in programming to entertain themselves. Sad.

The target audience are the usual tv watchers. The majority of people who watch TV are people who do not use the Internet, who do not learn, many of them are degenerates. They get all their information from the TV, from the government, from pop culture. They are the flotsam and jetsam of society. they hate god, they hate Christians, they hate America.

The Real O'neals just goes to show this is true. A show that attacks God, attacks the church, ridicules God and attacks family values while promoting the homosexual agenda to make it okay. Just in time for Obama's tranny bathroom mandate.

The show at the same times slights Irish Catholic families, the majority of whom are conservative and devout. Were it not for them Massachusetts and many other east coast states would be in as much a sorry state as New Jersey, California and New York.

Luckily these people are a very small minority. The advertisers will look elsewhere, the show will no longer be profitable, they'll have to find a new program probably sports or another tacky sitcom.

I had never heard of it. Thanks for the heads up.
I just watched an episode of the Real O’Neals on Demand, though. What I see ....

1. Judging by the ads accompanying the show, it is geared towards adolescent girls.

2. Judging by the content, it is geared toward teenagers.

3. Without seeing more episodes, while it pokes fun at religion, I don’t see anything worse than South Park.

4. The biggest problem for me is that the Real O’Neals is poorly written and worst of all, unfunny.

I agree the show sucks.

I also think this guy’s writing style sucks. The two are not associated. But both are true.

Dan Savage is one miserable excuse for a human being, truly among the most vile. A felcher, undoubtedly.

The advertisements for this show made my decision easy: It is junk and insulting to anyone of Christian faith. Won’t waste my time watching it.

Oh and not only is it renewed, they have it on Tuesday night same as this season, but they are moving The Middle to Tuesday night to prop up the O’Neill’s like the middle did with the goldberg’s. We are stuck with the O’Neill’s for 8 years minimum. The middle starts its 8th season in the fall.

“”How did I miss the name of the show?””

Guess it’s the title of the article - how odd!! Couldn’t mention it among all those worthless words?

There is something wrong with you if a third party joking about corned beef saps the pleasure out of your hash.

I saw a commercial for the show. I knew instantly it was a cr@p show.
Reprobate writers, producers, actors/actresses, tv station policy makers,...every and all who have anything to do with that show, and others like them, rot.
They’re helping to destoy young minds, and this country in the process for a few pieces of silver.
Makes me sick !!
