Trying not to offend someone these days is really hard apparently. When you do, it’s often those people shouting for peace and calm that like to assault people they disagree with. Probably the most hilarious way of offending someone, however, is when they are offended that you aren’t offended by something!
That’s exactly what happened to model Christine Teigen earlier this week. As was also reported by Newsbusters, Teigen ran into some unexpected hot water when she made two seemingly innocent tweets about how she found the word “oriental” to be odd when talking about her salad dressing:

Even when you’re not offended, somebody takes offense.
Can’t win for losing.
She appwrently needs an interventional re-orientation....
The progressives eating their own.
The Orient simply refers to the “Lands to the East” when referred to by those in Europe or Africa in times past. I always call what are knowns as Asians, Orientals, or when looking to puzzle someone, Ornamentals.
I never understood the Asian designation. It is too broad.
So Japanese are Asian and Indians are Asian. Really? They are not even the same race.
Wait until someone from the Middle East calls themselves semite and they aren’t Jewish. That’ll throw anyone off their game.
Claiming offense is nothing more than a rhetorical trick for putting someone else on the defensive, for getting the advantage and pressing for some concession; nowadays the concession usually involves a payment of money to the one claiming offense.
I always thought Asia was a continent...
Liberals and progressives are like the Clintons...their consciences bother them because they really arent very nice people and everything is about them
To sooth their consciences they look for things in others lives that they can pick at so they feel morally superior. Either consciously or subconsciously they know they sold out to being a long time ago.
They look to take offense when no offense was intended. The problem boils down to what is their heart, not others heart.

WTH is so offensive about oriental?
I will continue to call them oriental.
Unless we finally move to calling everyone by color. Which is much more efficient. White and black need to be matched by similar.
For Americans, “Oriental” has customarily been used to distinguish between far eastern peoples and the rest of Asia. Asia’s a VERY big place, and their are historical, racial, and cultural similarities that make it convenient to be able to have a subgroup of entities that have a commonality that doesn’t apply to Asia at large. China (free and Red), Korea, Japan, Thailand, etc. have much in common that they do not share with Irkutsk, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. Oriental is an easy way to refer to those nations and/or people collectively.
So true. Just a manipulation technique.
It would blow someone's mind to tell them that youi don't care if they are offended.
Pretty lady.
I never use the word “oriental” unless it’s occidental.
The Orient Express, was a train that ran West to East. Paris to Constantinople...or is it Istanbul?
