Keeping a compliant Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House is not necessarily a bad thing. You assume he will be compliant. Paul Ryan is no friend to Trump or his agenda. Better to replace him now rather than regret it later. The Speakers post runs the length of the Congress. Retain Ryan in January 2017 and it will be January 2019 before you could remove him. Do you really want to chance that?
