Just one angle of it.

Another if controllling the debate about the emails and servergate. Thereby giving cover to obama who used the unsecured server and knew about it and lied, and hill and bill.

Another is attempting to destroy the electoral college process by undermining the peoples faith in the process.

Another is covering up security crimes by hill and huma.

Another is covering up the real russian connection of hill and podesta to uranium one quid pro quo SoS deal.

“Fake news” is the justification that allows them to use the powers given our controllers in the Intelligence Authorization Act. They really have no choice but to lock down the internet. The free exchange of information among free thinking people via the internet is just too powerful for them to overcome with their controlled MSM propaganda. It’s do or die for them and a hill to die on for us.

I didn't know there was a "kill switch" for the Internet. It think it could only be done at the ISP level and I don't think they'd be too eager to cut power to thir customers Internet access not to mention all the ad revenue they make.off of it. I imagine they'd lose millions per day if they did. It's probably just the power they want you to think they have...

I asked someone with very minor IT abilities about this once. They said:”There’s always a work-around.”

It’s not just ad revenue. How much banking and general bill paying is done via Internet? How much actual merchandise is sold? How many people make their living online? Books? Movies? TV? Music? Even the MSM is becoming all electronic.

If we become like China with firewall controls that curtail research and discussion, how long before the talented overcome the filters? If they think TOR and the Deep Web are the wild west now, just think about what happens when EVERYONE is actively evading censors. Nothing at all will get done as every po’d coder decides to harass the PTB.

Outlaw the Internet and we _all_ become outlaws. They need to become careful what they wish for. They can force us into a single Global State and the next Civil War will be a planet-wide revolution.

Two things I have learned in life is that: (1) the smartest people don't run the government just the ones with the biggest mouths and egos and (2) the private sector will always outperform and beat the government when it comes to ingenuity and solutions for problems. It would take an hour to explain all of the reasons why but the bottom line is there is much better talent in the private sector.

The ones thinking they are in control may find themselves trapped by the very controls they put into place to comtrol others. Now wouldn't that be fun to watch...complete with a HAL AI that say, " I'm sorry but I can't let you do that to the American people. That's unconstitutional and logged at 8:38 am, December 20, 2016, Hillary Rodham Clinton...: )

Totally agree with all you have posted here. My late father worked for Treasury in a 3-letter agency reviled by most conservatives. He was low-level and subject to the constant bureaucratic BS. It took decades in some cases to bust connected bigs and it was almost always forensic accounting that did it. The timeline insured that the people at the top changed, providing windows of opportunity that could be exploited.

I hope I live long enough to see a truly distributed type of Internet impervious to central control along with enough new, open and privacy-protected platforms to marginalize GoogFBTwit.

It isn’t even just the censorship. Non-political YTers (instruction/entertainment) have had their revenues cut, even with increases in viewers. That is just GoogGreed.

It’s been twenty years. Time for a paradigm change.

Unfortunately for us peasants, the people in the government with the big mouths and larger egos believe that they know better than we do should be allowed to control our lives for personal enrichment when they see an opportunity. They need to know our silence is not consent nor are we submitting ourselves because they allegedly have larger cranial capacity. it’s because we’re too busy working so that they have money to operate and we can hopefully pay our bills.

There are many ways to restrict the free flow of information between free people other than simply turning off the internet via a “kill switch.” They can require user verification and disallow the use of aliases. After which they could use social pressure such as the threat of job loss to quiet troublesome voices. They can close out individual voices on the internet to remove leaders. They have already done this on Facebook and Twitter. They can make false posts in your name as they have done on Reddit. They can use fines and threats of incarceration against persons and web site owners that spread “fake news” as they already do against “hate speech.” Geert Wilders ring a bell? They can attack voices they don’t like by spreading false information against them and damaging their reputations. They can attack the computer(s) of persons they don’t like. They can restrict the travel of persons and harass them via the IRS. This has also already been done. They have many resources and can legally operate in the dark - just the thought of having these resources directed against you would quiet many people.

”There’s always a work-around.”

And there are always ways to "fix" the work-arounds. Yes, it would be a constant, ongoing technological battle but how many people are really skilled enough to play on that battlefield. The NSA has plenty of talent and a huge budget. And when you consider the penalties for going up against the govt most people will simply choose to sit on the sidelines and take what comes.

If we become like China with firewall controls that curtail research and discussion, how long before the talented overcome the filters? If they think TOR and the Deep Web are the wild west now, just think about what happens when EVERYONE is actively evading censors.

TOR was compromised a decade ago. Placing just a few govt controlled TOR servers in the network allowed the govt to use the traffic going through their servers to gather enough information to break the math and trace back TOR users. And the deep web is full of honey pots. Touch the wrong site and you immediately become a person of interest. If you would like to read a good (though quickly becoming outdated) book on the deep web I can highly recommend Thieves Emporium

Well as long as they are held to the same standards and have to use their real names too..: ) But we know there's no chance in hell that they will. And how they are going to enforce that same standard on illegals with multiple aliases will make for good comedy in itself...I'll just go ole school and find some young guys that can look act gay and have them hang around Capitol Hill with a hidden video camera and get enough material in one day to shut down those bills. Our government seems to commit more crimes (except for the violent crimes comnitted bynthe BLM supporters) than it's people these days...lol

Yeah, we are fighting at a disadvantage - they make the rules for us and they break their own rules with impunity. Luckily, as the saying goes, "truth will out" - but only when we are free to educate ourselves outside of their controlled MSM world of information.

I really do believe that one of our wannabe masters two biggest mistakes was not seeing the power inherent in the internet when it was coming into being and taking it under control while that was still possible. They may still be able to - but they're going to have a fight on their hands if they try.

My guess is they will use the frog in a pot method and try to reign it back in one small step at a time. But good luck with that 'cuz things are moving quickly now, especially with that wrecking ball named Trump coming at them head on. Fun times ahead for all of us!
