Once determined to eliminate the Department of Energy, Rick Perry will now lead it

Mission change

This will be portrayed in the media as a “flip-flop,” or as some sort of inherent contradiction. How can a man lead a department he once advocated eliminating entirely? But there’s no contradiction at all. If you believe the federal government doesn’t need to be dictating energy policy to the rest of the nation, but the Energy Department is still going to exist, why not have someone in charge of it who believes in the inherent limits of its usefulness, and runs it accordingly?

People were saying Sarah Palin would get this slot—What happened to her? I thought she supported Trump? Did she go back to Ted Cruz? McCain? or just go wacko all by herself?

"Once determined to eliminate the Department of Energy, Rick Perry will now lead it..."

...hopefully, to destruction.

Well, she does have a special-needs kid, and a husband recovering from serious injuries.

Maybe his mission is to close it. We don’t really know.

Go ahead and eliminate it, except for maybe a small core if it turns out to be really necessary.
DOE, EPA and several other departments could easily be reduced to, say, 10 man advisory panels to Congress.
They should have NO legislative power of their own.

She’s put out a couple of goofy articles accusing Trump of Crony Capitalism when he intervened with Carrier.

It is easier to tear it up from the inside than from the outside.

Plus, of course, he can at least make sure that regulations are removed that have and continue to hinder the production of energy (and, thus, job creation). Take the chains off of this critical part of the economy, and the economy will have in place one of the key pieces on the chessboard necessary to have a real boom. The other 2 key pieces are tax policy and trade policy.

Perry used to be a Democrat, and he has lingering tendencies in that world view. Of course, the same is true with Trump.

I’m hearing Sarah Palin to over see the VA, but that would be a an impossible job.

Close it in time to run for the Cruz seat. Cruz can then wait for Trumps 2nd SCOTUS appointment.

Trump’s main goal is to reduce the deficit and debt.

I think he plans on making America not only energy independent, but a net exporter of oil. He appointed a Texan to lead the dept of Energy and the CEO of Exxon to be Sec of State.

He also appointed US Rep Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a climate-change skeptic and an advocate for expanded oil and gas development.

It’s all making sense.
