Why didnt she just resign? people asked last night on social media. The only answer I can think of is PR. The headline Defiant acting AG resigns in protest over travel ban is good for Yates and her sympathizers; the headline Imperious president fires defiant acting AG who refused to enforce travel ban is much better. The second one makes it possible for liberals to frame this, stupidly and self-servingly, as a Monday Night Massacre. The first one doesnt. In choosing between two outcomes for her Swan Lake routine, Yates chose the one with maximum pathos for an adoring Democratic audience.
Whats surprising to me is how little effort she put into making the highest use of her moment in the spotlight. She never claimed that Trumps travel ban was unconstitutional; she actually admitted that OLC had reviewed the order and found it lawful on its face. As such, she was reduced to objecting that the new policy isnt wise and just which isnt her decision to make as AG and that she hadnt yet been persuaded that it was lawful, even though she gave no concrete reasons for doubting its legality. If she really wanted to make life difficult for Trump and martyr herself, this was the moment for her to spell out in detail every argument she could think of for why Trumps order might violate the Constitution. Instead of a Trump vs. Yates thing, make it a Trump vs. the law thing. Thats how this would have become a Monday Night Massacre.
She didnt do that, though and legal experts across the spectrum are basically unanimous, as far as I can see, in believing that Trump was right to fire her for insubordination.

I’ll bet $he wa$ paid well for every $ingle word.
Bkmk
I bet she gets paid more for keeping her mouth shut from here on out.
The Democrats are going to use her to replace Hillary?
I heard somebody say that Sally Yates is now revered by the liberals as a Joan of Arc type figure
It makes me laugh. Liberals who two days ago had never heard of Sally Yates and had no idea who she was, have received talking points that she is this great courageous figure standing up to Trump and all that.
Liberals who have no clue who she is are parroting back how she’s a great American hero.......
Attempted stepping stone to public office, at least until Clinton Foundation probes get going.
Who cares if she wanted to be fired. She was fired and justifiable so and that’s that. Next.
Just shows the kind of incompetent people who zero appointed.
Of course she wanted to “get fired” this was all a political stunt. She only had a few days left. She could have kept her mouth shut done nothing for a couple of days and left. No this was pure Democrat Politics!
Carefully Use No Trump!
Sally Yates should be hauled up on the charge of sedition.
She made it blatantly obvious it was partisanship.
It was blatant, in your face, insubordination.
No leader can or should stand for it.
If they do, they are toast, as a leader.
Trump fired her within hours and had her replacement ready to go.
He showed leadership.
And he showed DECISIVE leadership.
He sent a loud an clear broadside to all his staff and everyone in every agency of government.
He also sent a message to the House and Senate that business as usual is over.
There is a new sheriff in town, who ain't afraid to shoot.
If Yates wants to go into politics, she’s going about it the right way. She just needs a heavily Dem/moonbat region to run in.
Warren better watch out. This chick is younger and prettier and may be angling for the 2020 race, being a brand new Leftist star.
Scuttlebutt is that she’s using this incident to boost a run for governor of GA. She knew she would get canned eventually, so why not capitalize on the notoriety?
Everything Rats do is for personal political advancement.
Saw in the gym (no control over what they have on) that she is a friend of Michael MooreFOOD which is enough by itself to fire her ass.
” “has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States””
This statement was in the document discussing her termination.
I saw treason in the statement, and at coffee this AM, a lawyer friend of mine said that could be interpreted though a stretch.
But since she defied an Executive order blatantly, an order designed to protect the people of the United States and by not following through on it, could endanger citizens of this country. She need to be charged, if found guilty, she should face capital punishment.
Moot point !
She is now the center of a narrative that will last a long time. Why in goodness sakes didn’t they wait until sessions was confirmed? I hope they are smarter than I.
