Hannity offers rare criticism of Trump

In an infrequent moment of criticism, Fox News commentator Sean Hannity, an unflinching defender of President Donald Trump, admitted that the commander in chief is “too sensitive at times.”

Conservative radio show host and Washington Post columnist Hugh Hewitt, after arguing that Trump is “President Promise Keeper,” asked Hannity: “What’s the negative? What’s the one thing that bothers you about him?”

The Fox host, who agreed with Hewitt’s assessment that Trump has kept his campaign promises so far, said that it might, in fact, be the president’s stick-to-itivness that has hurt him. Hannity said Trump is “not a perfect person.”

“The difference between Trump and, say, other politicians, … they’ll say anything to get elected,” he told Hewitt. “[Trump] just stuck to what he believed in, and maybe that’s a fault.”

Hannity added that Trump perhaps “shouldn’t tweet out every thought he has,” ultimately concluding, “Maybe he’s a little too sensitive at times, I think.”

It’s good that he fights back, but you can’t fight everything. It’s more effective tactically to pick your battles.

I actually think Trump has done an amazing job, especially with intense opposition. Hannity is a Trump ally... but with almost the entire media, Democrats and some GOP against him, such superficial complaints aren’t helpful. Libs love to misinterpret everything as a crack in the veneer.

No, he isn't 'too sensitive' at all.

He knows the enemies he is fighting and won't give them an inch.

I completely agree with Hannity and totally support the president, at the same time.
He’s human. Not God. Are we supposed to worship him the way the left worshipped Obama? Pppffttt.

Excellent point. And Constructive Criticism is totally different than simply criticizing.

I don’t support his acceptance of gay marriage as settled law. The Supreme Court doesn’t make law. I figured along the way he would say and do things I was against, but he is doing a ton of things I am for, hillihag would have done nothing acceptable.

Agreed.

Most of us have suffered “bullies” at times in our life. They are trying to get a “rise” out of their target, to see their target squirm from their constant barrage of attacks.

My mom used to tell me to IGNORE them, or pretend to. They want to see your reaction, so go about your life and do not show them they are having any effect.

I think his tweets are designed to seem impulsive, but I think he uses them to build narratives, and lure the MSM in various directions, like a lion tamer at a 3-ring circus. He changes the subject to things he would like to highlight — especially his outrageous comments.

Sometimes expressing everything you’re thinking is a fault.

I do not believe that he expresses everything he is thinking. Again, there is no way for the man to even break even, let alone win. If he responds when attacked, he is too aggressive he should be more mellow. If he cows down and tucks his tail between his legs and slinks off when attacked, the chorus is, “I wish we had someone who would fight back.” breaks out. I do get your point. I don't like it, but I see it. And it is the current way our side thinks. So be it.

If President Trump tweeted his every thought, he would never be his usual two or three steps ahead of the enemy, namely, the RINOs, big media, and the Democrats.

Try thinking for a change Sean.

“Try thinking for a change Sean”.

That’s BS. Sean is a tireless defender of President Trump and fights libs every day on behalf of him.

I think you need to think a bit more.

“Hannity added that Trump perhaps “shouldn’t tweet out every thought he has,”

Does Hannity really think that Trump has only three or four thoughts per day?

Sounds like something Shepherd Smith would say.

Sorry sweetcheeks - Hannity is a simple minded mouthpiece for the Republican Establishment.

Sure, he may have defected this time, but historically he’s been little more than a cork on the ocean being tossed to and fro depending on what the Party bosses want.

He vehemently advocated for and defended GWB on a number of scroo-ups, along with giving the Congressional Republicans a pass on their clear dereliction of duty. Plus, no one in their right mind refers to Karl Rove as ‘Sir’.

Nice try.

You’re spinning like a top and changing the subject. Nice try but no dice. End of conversation, flabbysweetcheeks.

Hey - it’s tough when trying to defend the indefensible! Next time it will help if you put things in their proper historical perspective.

Sean’s a nice boy anyway.
