The bank suggested that we put a fraud alert with a credit agency, but if you do it online they ask for a credit card and don't tell you how much the charge is going to be. There is no live person.

Put a credit freeze on all credit rating accounts.

Maybe a recorded “yes” shouldn’t be used to validate a charge. What a stupid system.

Thanks, that was what someone else said, but Youndont get to talk to anyone at a credit agency and they ask for a credit card but don’t tell you how much the fee is.

It cost 10 bucks for each one in VA. Just did it a month ago. Worth every dime. The faster you shut down the ID theft the better.

You won’t be able to get new credit. You can temporarily lift the freeze when applying for new credit

I have a security freeze on mine.

Your current creditors are still allowed to access your credit.

What was the question? I don’t think any system uses a “verbal yes” to establish identity. They’d have to already be in possession of all the other information.

You can find the fees on the site. You have to dig. I posted two links to two of them and they discuss fees. Depends on your state.

Nope you can still use your accounts that you already have established, all you want. You just won't be able to open new ones. You will get a pin number that you can use to temporally "unfreeze" your account if you need to.

Another reason I don’t answer the phone unless I recognize the caller on caller ID. If it’s an obvious solicitation call, I just click it on, then click it off, if I’m not in the mood to hear the phone ring.

Call your credit card companies. Not the reporting companies
