We're ready to launch a pre-emptive strike if Bowl Cut Jr. tries more nuclear tests

Gauntlet thrown

The calculation has always - or at least for the past decade or so - been that any sort of strike against North Korea would be too risky because a) if they really do have operable nukes, they could easily reach Seoul or various targets in Japan; and b) Bowl Cut Jr. is either evil enough or crazy enough (or both) to do it.

Ergo, no threat of force is credible or feasible. So went the thinking throughout the Bush and Obama administrations.

Congress needs to authorize Trump to drop the abomb on North Korea if necessary to stop them from getting an H-bomb and an lCBM.

We're not going to strike after this upcoming nuke test... but sooner or later the fat dictator will manage to fit a nuke onto a missile, then then someone's going to have to stop him.

That time could very well happen during Trump's presidency... thank God we don't have Hillary as president.

“So went the thinking throughout the Bush and Obama administrations. “

The author is an idiot.

The first test was in 2006 and was widely consider a dud. The second test in 2008 was known to be successful.

Any POTUS could have put an end to this nonsense prior to 2008 without a risk of NORK nukes. And that includes GW Bush.

It’s not the nuclear threat, they probably don’t have a deliverable weapon yet.
It’s the thousands of artillery pieces aimed at Seoul that prevent action against North Korea.
Within seconds of the first bomb dropping, Seoul would be bombarded with a devastating barrage.

Each B-1B or B-52 sortie can deliver 40 - 60 cluster bombs. The sorties would be short and they could like fly at least 2-3 per day.

It looks something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_wXTuLAFgk

If we move first, the NORK artillery would be lucky to get off 1 round per tube...for each tube in range. Most tubes would never fire a shot. None would fire a second shot.

We could put 30 heavy bombers over the area where the NORKS have their long range artillery and where they have massed their armor for that vaunted assault on Seoul.

And augment that with 300 or more fighters.

You think the “Highway of Death was gruesome? Wait until you see the film of the NORK army near the DMZ.

And that’s without nukes.
