The day before Bill O'Reilly was cut loose from Fox News after 20 years with the network, his handlers appeared to believe they had at least one more card to pull that might help save his job in the midst of a sexual harassment scandal engulfing the top-rated prime time host.
On Tuesday, O'Reilly and his legal team debated whether to share with the leadership of parent company 21st Century Fox an April 13 email from Mary Pat Bonner, a Democratic fundraiser and ally of the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, which had spearheaded what she called an "advertiser education campaign" to get advertisers to pull out of O'Reilly's 8 p.m. weeknight broadcast, "The O'Reilly Factor."
The email, whose recipients' names were redacted in the version that was shared with POLITICO, announced two conference calls — originally scheduled for this Thursday and Friday — with Media Matters President Angelo Carusone. The purpose was to discuss "the success of the campaign so far, and our plans moving forward."

Why would they target advertisers? What has O.R. ever said that was hateful or mean spirited or racist or sexist? The left is on an insane jihad. Unbelievable. Where is this outrage over Podesta and the Clintons? They are the true pervs.
More to the point, why would the advertisers cave in? Left wing twits who rail and wail against Fox News are mostly unemployed bums or if they are employed they work at the very bottom of the ladder. What little they get goes to booze and drugs anyway. What are they afraid of losing?
BOR’s law firm releasing his emails to them to Politico?! What happened to attorney-client privilege?
Rush said, and I concur; that there were likely several email bots written to send to advertisers letters of outrage. Plus Facebook bots posting and liking posts spread around.
The suddenness of the effort to get BOR was the tell. These companies don’t have cyber forensics to determine what is real grassroots vs. coordinated attack and they caved.
It is obvious to me that the Murdochs welcomed the Media Matters smear to give them cover to get rid of O’Reilly and move the network to the left. The key to this isn’t the smear, but the fact that FNC didn’t fight it.
Media Matters is so ignorant they actually believe O’Reilly is a Conservative.

Didn’t agree with everything he said but only show I watched part of everyday. If he is on another channel I will watch.
Roger Ailes and BOR made Fox and they are gone. Will stick with FBN.
Seems to me that there are a bunch of activists with nothing else to do (at least nothing productive). O’Reilly wasn’t really liked by conservatives, so in a way they didn’t accomplish very much. Let’s see who they get to replace him. We know they don’t want a white male.

You wish! The people who organize these programs (not the jackasses out on the street) are well educated and highly paid. Funding their non-profit employers are the likes of George Soros and, amazingly, corporate America.
Is media matters liable for coercing advertisers over allegations? Can and should OReilly sue them for lost wages and would he be successful?
Yeah well most of us can meet that and raise them. I’m telling ya’ll, this is the biggest mistake they ever made. Fox will lose even more money and viewers and it’ll be a big comfort to the left.
