Those who think Canada’s Defense Minister will resign are living in the past

If those who are demanding Sajjan’s resignation think he will resign because it is the honourable thing to do, they are sadly living in the past. It’s all about power, not honour

Those who think Canada’s Defense Minister will resign are living in the past

In the past few days there have been calls for Harjit Sajjan to resign his cabinet post as the Minister of Defense. While it is certainly possible he might resign if he personally cannot take the heat, or if Justin Trudeau believes it is politically expedient to get rid of him, there is no way he will ever resign as a matter of honour.

I did not know that Canada had a defense minister. Does that mean it has a defense ministry?

Heh heh

First I’m hearing of this scandal.

Looking only at the headline, I thought it might be he would resign because Trudeau has now cut the other remaining ball off Canada’s military.

Seriously - after Trudeau, what will Canada’s military look like?

Yes. It's called the United States Department of Defense.

I’m a 2PPLCI vet.

We are so substantial the delta commander went in front of pentagon to tell them he didn’t want to deploy without us every again.

Perhaps it’s hilarious to you, but it’s not as funny for my good friends who never made it home from Afghan, and the combat we saw, tip of the spear.

Their liberals are just as bad as our liberals. Shameless, and without honor.

After Trudeau, the military won’t look good, but it was already going too PC much like the US.

The liberals have infested every corner our of institutions, and we’ve done nothing about it. I’ve been very vocal about it, which has cost me on a personal level, but it’s still not enough.

A good time to point out that Canadian forces have been invaluable to allied efforts in Afghanistan since the US led invasion all those many years ago. There have been more deaths of Canadian forces in that war proportional to population than US forces. Not a laughing matter. Thank you Canada.

Just in case Freepers do not have the gist of this matter, I will fill in a few details. The gentleman who is the subject of the furore is one of the new appointees to show diversity. He comes with qualifications. He served in combat action with Canadian forces in Afghanistan. He is a Sikh by religion and is pictured in a turban. Nothing wrong with this.

He is a Liberal, but the press and opposition politicians are out full cry. Again and again saying he "must go". The full force of the dread weapon - political correctness has turned on this unfortunate man. All he did was make a chance remark to embellish his image. The sharks are circling He was addressing an assembly of persons when he said he was "the architect of Medusa". This being a Canadian Forces action in destroying terrorism. He happened to be a minor player.

What is noteworthy that in the Canadian Parliament he stood up and admitted his error and apologized. The sharks of political correctness are still circling the waters. Absolute overkill. (IMHO)

Some network had some live coverage of Canadians in Afghanistan. These guys are stressed to the max. A truck pulls up to a check point, the Canadians raise their guns. They demand the truck to stop, which it doesn’t completely, and you should have heard the cussing from the soldiers. They are freaked out. Don’t blame them. Truck finally stops and they demand everyone out of the truck for a check. You really feel for these guys because they don’t know the intentions of anyone rolling up to a check point.

Thanks for the pic of my colours.

My dress uniform has the blue swimming pool on it (presidential citation), it was given to us because of the Battle of Kapyong.

My service isn’t over yet, I’m 40 and plenty of gas left. We need to take our countries back.

Thanks karnage,

I just like to remind my southern neighbors that many of us up here have their backs, it’s not just one sided.

We don’t have the numbers, but what we lack in number we make up for with fight.

Thank you Canada.

Your comment much appreciated. I note from Wikipedia these facts. Operation Medusa 2006,was a joint Afghan Army, American Special Forces and Canadian forces.

1st Btn. 3rd Special Forces Group. 2nd Btn. 4th Infantry. All US forces.
1st Btn.Royal Canadian Regt. The Canadian forces.

The Taliban suffered over 500 deaths and were defeated. Unfortunately they rebounded later and regained control of the area.
