10 Things The GOP Will Pass In Pork-Filled Budget Deal
MRC TV ^ | May 3, 2017 | P. Gardner Goldsmith

Congratulations!

The GOP holds the House, the Senate, and the White House, and, in addition to not abiding by the Constitution and repealing all of the so-called “Affordable Care Act,” they are set to pass a budget that not only hands the Dems pretty much everything they want, it also funds so many obviously crazy things that it would be virtually impossible to defend.

Take a deep breath, and let’s dive into the swamp!

  1. The GOP budget does not cut taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, which comprises 40% of that organization’s income. Rather than mention that there’s nothing in the Constitution that gives the politicians the power to take peoples’ money and hand it to an organization that was founded by a eugenicist and is the number one supplier of abortions around the world, the GOP said, in essence, "There’s plenty more cash to extract for you, PP!"
  2. The Nixon-Era monstrosity EPA will not be eliminated, and its budget will not be cut. (The 1% cut some news sites are reporting is not really a cut, but a 1% lower amount than previously planned.) The gang gets over $8 billion of your cash and your kids’ cash, since the US operates on debt that future generations will be forced to pay.
  3. There were zero, Z-E-R-O, cuts to the unconstitutional Corporation for Public Broadcasting. So your tax cash can continue to fund radio stations that you don’t like, stations that take up huge swaths of the radio spectrum.
  4. The middle finger of current pork projects, the California High-Speed Rail scheme, will get even more magic cash, $100 million, to be precise. Trump had proposed blocking the funding, but the uber-conservative GOP in the House said, “Nah! Let’s send more money down the rabbit hole!” It is important to note that no public transit system in the history of rail has ever run in the black.
  5. The unconstitutional National Institute of Health will get $2 billion more from this already bankrupt government.
  6. “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” sees more BBQ sauce slathered on the pork, in the form of $17 million more.
  7. The unconstitutional vestigial tail of Teddy Roosevelt, the abysmally run National Park Service will get $81 million more.
  8. In addition to the $11.2 billion that will go to the kindly agents of the IRS, the agency gets an additional $290 million. The metastasis continues.
  9. The highly controversial Bureau of Land Management, which saw an armed standoff in Nevada eighteen months ago - over land that should, according to the Constitution, be in the control of Nevadans, will get $15 million more. No cuts. Do a bad job in the private sector, and lose business. Do a bad job in the government sphere? You get more money and no one loses a job.
  10. College subsidies will increase. Rather than stopping the insane runaway inflation caused by government handouts for college, the GOP have decided to increase Pell Grants by thousands per student, which will amount to more millions down the tube.

And all of these are just a few of the big-picture items the GOP handed Donald Trump to sign. They don’t include little details like federal funding for psychological aid to breastfeeding moms and water projects in Africa. And while a handful of leftists might take the superficial approach and claim that opposing such programs means someone is cold-hearted, the reality is precisely the opposite.

Stopping the government from forcing our neighbors or their children to pay for these things does not mean we don’t want to help people in need. Individuals can choose to spend money on any cause they desire. What one recognizes in criticizing these mandates is that our neighbors can best reflect their own morals and feelings when they are allowed to send money where they wish it to go.

Donald Trump occasionally talked a good game in this area, extolling the virtues of letting people keep their own money and use it as they wish -- but he has vowed to sign this bill rather than veto it.

Makes sense. The Never Trumpers create a monstrosity so their shills and trolls can blame it on Trump.

. Very.....Democrat of them

Because Mr. Goldsmith, all of this spending expires in 5 months and Trump will present a budget of his own without all the Obama mildew in it and no concessions to Chuckie and the Left. Trump needs to get money to the military and money for the wall. If he or the GOP Congress would have fought now, what would have happened is you would have gotten another CR that would have lasted into next year, or another 2-week one and we'll be right back in the same boat as before.

Or would Mr. Goldsmith prefer to fight over 5 months' worth of cuts when instead Trump can make sweeping changes to the budget and downsize Washington in September.

#3 Funding NPR/PBS with ZERO cuts chaps my hide. Bigtime.

But The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities got a slight INCREASE!

Ahh ... this legislation sprang from the combined “wisdom” of Paul Ryan, the Tuesday Group, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi.

The problem with your prediction is that he already had the Ryancare screwup, Ryan and McConnell have never said that they would support a wall, and look at the Republican Party’s track record on these budgets. Government grew while they were in the majority under Bush and they didn’t fight Obama during the budget battles.

So the excuse for their malfeasance with our money this time is that there are only five months remaining before the end of this fiscal year on Sep. 30. The GOP better find a spine in those five months because if they pull this stunt again, they will lose the House and Senate next year and Pres. Trump’s administration will be finished.

“...all of this spending expires in 5 months...”
**************************
Well, don’t be so sure of that. Go to the bill itself and do a search for ‘2018’ and start looking at the language around each of the occurrences of ‘2018’ found in the search. You should quickly lose your belief that it all expires in 5 months.

That's true. However, Trump's administration is only 4 months old. He doesn't have many of his lieutenants in place and he's dealing with members of his own party who are working against him.

I predict September will be when the gauntlet is thrown down and Trump tells Congress to put up or shut up. The 5 months gives Trump plenty of time to regroup and reassess the situation, and go to war accordingly.

Also in September, candidates will be declaring for next years' mid-terms. So that puts additional pressure on Ryan.

None of the spending in this CR goes beyond the end of September, when the Obama 2017 fiscal year expires.

I hope so...but we’ll see. I guess you didn’t do the search I suggested?

Since Trump isn’t really a conservative, or a Republican, I think September will really play into his hand. He will let Republicans know he will shut down the government unless that budget favors his promises. The Republicans will be faced with fighting Democrats to get Trump’s agenda through, supporting the shutdown, or voting with the Democrats to override a veto. I see it as a loss-loss for establishment rinos in Congress.

I don’t get your defense of Trump and the GOP. Why will it be different in five months?

I’m hoping you’re right that we’ll get appropriations bills supporting our agenda on a regular schedule, but with these creeps, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Government agencies always make sure they spend every penny of their funding, with a lot of help from their employee unions, in order to grow bigger and justify their existence. If the Secretary of state and head of EPA are serious in making government smaller and more efficient in accordance with Trump policies, they can take charge over the career bureaucrats and opposition and not spend all the monies allotted to them, and congress would have a hard time justifying more funding than needed. Of course the democrats will find a million other goodies they want to spend money on, so we need republicans to get some spine.

And while we’re at it, I want a pony!

Seriously, though. It may be a difficult fight, especially because it’s against both the GOP and the Rats. But it’s a fight that needs to be fought while there’s even a chance of winning it.

And as far as I can tell, We the People + Trump’s administration are the only people who may be able to pull this off before the political war starts to turn into a physical war.

Well, I’m not EEE, but here’s what I can come up with off the top of my head.

1: Trump will have more of his people in place and more of a sense of the levers of power and money that he can pull in Congress. Note that the Senate is STILL slow-walking some of Trump’s appointees.
2: By that point the NK problem will be either solved or at least moved to the back burner; it’s not a good idea to have a budget crisis when there’s a nuclear nutjob requiring our attention RIGHT NOW.
3: In 5 months the votes to pass a budget will be 50+Pence, not 60, meaning that the Ds become far less relevant and we don’t have quite so many cucks to twist the balls of in order to make it pass.

Hopefully Trump administration is strong but I think they need to hear from the people. I would hate to think all we went through to elect Trump could be undone by the swamp.

I agree it is dumb to fight over a budget that only lasts a few months.

On October 1 we will _know_ whether Trump really means it.

_Know_, not guess.

I can wait—with an open mind.
