The US Federal Communications Commission will look into complaints made against talk show host Stephen Colbert for what some have labelled a homophobic joke about President Donald Trump.
Colbert faced a backlash following the Monday night airing of The Late Show, during which he made numerous jokes about Trump during his opening monologue.
Among them, he said: "The only thing [Trump's] mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c**k holster."
Viewers took to social media to declare Colbert's joke homophobic.
The hashtag #FireColbert began spreading around Twitter, along with calls for people to boycott sponsors of the late-night show.
"I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we've gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it's been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we'll take the appropriate action," FCC chairman Ajit Pai told Philadelphia's Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.
Colbert responded to the controversy during his opening monologue on Wednesday, saying he regretted his choice of words but stopped short of an apology.
"So while I would do it again, I would change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be," he said.
"I'm not going to repeat the phrase, but I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero," he said.
"I think we can all agree on that. I hope even the president and I can agree on that. Nothing else. But, that."
Colbert isn’t a Joke?
So then, people on Twitter aren’t upset about the crude vile suggestion , they are upset that they thought Colbert was being disrespectful of homosexual sex??? Really?? That’s their interpretation of the comment?? The fact that somehow homosexuality was the butt of the joke???
What’s to investigate? Lowest common denominator language is the only way he can communicate with his audience.
If they weren’t low-lifes they wouldn’t be watching him in the first place.

I know. The “gay” side of that foul mouthed monologue never even occurred to me, until I read it here! What is the matter with the FCC? Have they themselves no language standards, but only “issue” based ones?
They don’t like the implication that there is something wrong with a man performng oral on another man.
But every normal person in the back if their minds knows that there is, which is why even lib comedians sometimes make gay jokes.
Colbert is the pride of the katholyk church. Pro-abortion, pro-sodomy, no borders, global government.

The world has gone crazy. It wasn’t homophobic, it was obcene and disgusting. Also juvenile and pain dumb. This was after Trump missile attacked putin’s client in Syria. Just stupid.
Johnny Carson could tell jokes without using foul language. That’s why the current crop of talk show hosts are mediocre.
CBS will take offense before the FCC will.
The joke is clearly obscene.

One way the Mediascum tries to control the messaging is by re-describing and mis-characterizing just about everything which occurs, so that if you did not see/hear/read the original event you get only a highly filtered, distorted impression of what happened.

That’s not as much homophobia as it is profanity. It might be homophobic if both men were gay.
