Kaboom - man that was a close one

Everyone loves to shoot and see things go kaboom. One of the things that you must consider is safety if you're going to shoot at tannernite. Be sure to be at a safe distance with some cover.

Take for example the guy in this gif image here, he is using a tree as a barricade just in case debris comes flying.

Well after seeing this you can tell, this fellow needs more than a tree if shooting from this short distance, he should have been in a fortified bunker. Don't try this at home. See the full footage here.

But yeah, tannerite is awesome and folks in TX use it to blow up and kill large groups of hogs en masse.

True story:

In 1965, as a fifth grader, I had a BB gun that you cocked by ramming the barrel down into the body. It was heavy, had a great real wood stock, but was not very powerful.

So, I shoot a baloon and the BB bounces back and hits me square in the eye that is closed.

No damage, but it hurt. Glad it was closed.

I have a friend who did the same thing when shooting at a bottle. It bounced back and hit him in the eye. No kidding. Caused him to go to the hospital and have surgery to get it out.

So, he is THE GUY who had his eye almost shot out by a bb gun.

It was funny then. Now its hilarious. Of course, it wasn’t my eye.

I was at an indoor range, and somebody must have hit the steel target hanger. A piece of bullet ricocheted and hit me in the knuckle. It made a very small, very deep bruise. I’m terrible about wearing eye protection...but I’m sure it could have easily taken out an eye.

Saw two stills:

Door has come off fridge and shows little detectable damage. 1 foot off the ground.

Next still, closer to tree, shows door crumpled into ball with steel folded back over itself. Not possible without hitting something on the way.

I had just started working with a Urologist in Idaho when we got a call from the ER. Seems three male teen einsteins were playing with an air rifle and one of them “accidentally” got shot in the groin. BB penetrated newer denim jeans and we recovered it from inside his right testicle. Unfortunately I do not think he was rendered sterile so no Darwin award.
