Oh, how silly! He’s in his 80s and was convicted of “defying a judge.” Big freepin deal, let the old guy go home.

“... judicial oversight ...”

Pretty sure that the President of the United States is not subject to “oversight” by the courts.

He’s 85 and has been married since 1958. If anyone ever deserved a pardon, it’s Joe.

Absolutely. Obama went after Arpaio with everything he could muster just to get even when he defied Obama’s manipulation of the judicial branch, and continued to do his job.

Democrats, and Democrat Kangaroo Court.

Of course Joe was to be railroaded all the way with a Hillary for President, but Trump THANK GOD won.

I’m going to do something rare for me and play grammar police. You used the wrong word when you wrote “prosecuted.” The correct word in regard to the Mueller WItch hunt is “persecuted.”

Arpaio and "his relentless and well-documented brutality":

These guys got fed, watered and got to watch TV. They complained about the AZ heat.
Sheriff Joe said that our US military were fighting in conditions without air conditioning so shut up.

I agree. I read his memoir, years ago. I didn’t remember that he’d been married all that time, though.

“Disobeyed a judge” is just not high on any normal person’s list of terrible crimes.

Agreed, especially given the quality of many of today’s judges.

Really. A lot of judges are pathetic. But, to be fair, it’s not just “today’s” judges. If you read about the early United States, lots of judges were hacks.

Yeah, Slate is such a unique collection of Mensa folks. /S

Remember, truly accomplished individuals such as Trump are being critiqued by.....digital mag writers. With such advanced credentials as (wait for it), journalism, SJW marshmallow growing, and underwater basket weaving.

I cannot wait for their upcoming article on quantum entanglement.

Today’s judges are not so much hacks as they have a political agenda.

They had agendas in the old days, but it was more partisan that ideological.

Trump pardoning Joe was a direct shot over their bow. Anyone caught up in a legalistic crime from the investigation will be pardoned. This destroys Mueller’s ability to squeeze people to get fake evidence against Trump.

It is true President Trump abused his (absolute) pardon power. His predecessors obozo and bj made it clear that pardons are to ONLY be used when they are bought for big bucks.

He is setting a bad precedent for the next democrat president who will have to start the bidding all over again.

As much as I hate to think what you just said is true, it is, at least in the modern world. And - it was a MISDEMEANOR. He was pardoned for a misdemeanor crime.

Don’t you think President Trump could do this out of kindness to an octogenarian, rather than for Trump’s personal benefit? It’s funny how people who “admire” Trump ascribe the basest self-interest to him ...

He should have forced them to run laps. It would have been a kindness.
