Nothing is so unsettling to a social order as the presence of a mass of scribes without suitable employment and an acknowledged status
The explosive component in the contemporary scene is not the clamor of the masses but the self-righteous claims of a multitude of graduates from schools and universities. This army of scribes is clamoring for a society in which planning, regulation, and supervision are paramount and the prerogative of the educated. They hanker for the scribes golden age, for a return to something like the scribe-dominated societies of ancient Egypt, China, and the Europe of the Middle Ages. There is little doubt that the present trend in the new and renovated countries toward social regimentation stems partly from the need to create adequate employment for a large number of scribes
Obviously, a high ratio between the supervisory and the productive force spells economic inefficiency. Yet where social stability is an overriding need the economic waste involved in providing suitable positions for the educated might be an element of social efficiency.

LIBERALS: Please stop killing your fellow countrymen!!
Ordeal of Change? The so-called scribes, however, are now going to scribe school with an 8th Grade education, and instead of learning mathematics and engineering, and other skills that might be useful, they’re learning how to bullyrag anyone who disagrees with them, and if that fails, gang up and beat on them.
Actually, they are going to law school to learn to turn the law into a cudgel
Good grief!
Get off YOUR ASS and STOP funding the importation of HOSTILE MUSLIMS!
Then get RID of the ones you have.
This is NOT rocket science.

I should have said one of the many things That’s wrong with the Country.
I wonder who they are?
Usually they're not very fond of having themselves scribed into the light of actual history.

However, the scribes, priests of olden times are now known as LAWYERS ! Still a source of ‘bad things and times’..Parasites on the peons..i.e. working people....
You are ruled by them and THEY make the laws concerning everything, and you must pay the bill.(Look at their exemption of THEMSELVES from the laws they make! )

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats’ feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar...

A Republic is a system of government characterized by the Rule of LAW.
It’s the corrupt purpose and lack of good character that is the problem - not the structure of the mortar and bricks that form the prison... that was a fortress and sanctuary for we, the infidels of every denomination.

A better description of these so called scribes: Intellectuals yet Idiots!
Our Governments, Universities/Colleges and many businesses/corporations are controlled and operated by the Intellectual Yet Idiots, who have been controlling our lives for decades. These Intellectual Yet Idiots control our media, institutions, most of DC and many states down to the county/city level.
Nassim Taleb Exposes The Worlds Intellectual-Yet-Idiot Class!
What we have been seeing worldwide, from India to the UK to the US, is the rebellion against the inner circle of no-skin-in-the-game policymaking clerks and journalists-insiders, that class of paternalistic semi-intellectual experts with some Ivy league, Oxford-Cambridge, or similar label-driven education who are telling the rest of us 1) what to do, 2) what to eat, 3) how to speak, 4) how to think and 5) who to vote for.
With psychology papers replicating less than 40%, dietary advice reversing after 30 years of fatphobia, macroeconomic analysis working worse than astrology, the appointment of Bernanke who was less than clueless of the risks, and pharmaceutical trials replicating at best only 1/3th of the time, people are perfectly entitled to rely on their own ancestral instinct and listen to their grandmothers (or Montaigne and such filtered classical knowledge) with a better track record than these policymaking goons.
Indeed one can see that these academica-bureaucrats wanting to run our lives arent even rigorous, whether in medical statistics or policymaking. They cant tell science from scientism??in fact in their eyes scientism looks more scientific than real science. (For instance it is trivial to show the following: much of what the Cass-Sunstein-Richard Thaler types??those who want to nudge us into some behavior??much of what they call rational or irrational comes from their misunderstanding of probability theory and cosmetic use of first-order models.)

Those who were in charge, once a large majority, have thrown in the towel and resigned to leave the problem to someone else to solve. Who will step up? You were elected to solve the problem. Why don’t you?
