#MeToo strikes again. No due process. No presumption of innocence. But this is hard-nosed, down and dirty politics

Politics is a dirty, dirty, dirty, zero-sum, winner take all business. Or to paraphrase my favorite cynical political philosopher, Thomas Hobbes, “Ontario Conservative politics since the Harris era, is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short”.
One day Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown is cruising to a sure minority or majority political victory. The next day, his political career is destroyed over allegations of sexual misconduct by two anonymous women.
From Harvard no less!
This is a pu$$y revolution. No proof. No name accusers. Just pack up, man...and shut up.
And lookey who takes over.

Off hand, I can think of a good number of reasons to be suspicious of Mulroney. That said, Brown forgot the adage “you dance with the one who brought you.” Running fairly hard right on social issues in the leadership race, and promptly morphing into someone who could pass for a middle-of-the-road California Senator on theses issues is a quick way to have no real friends to fall back on when troubles hit. The social conservative branch of the party rightly was feeling completely betrayed. Mulroney will likely fair better with this branch of the party, even if her positions are the same, because she, at least, is not a complete traitor. Likely she is to the right of where Brown is.
There aren’t really any accusations beyond he pushed things to a point, was rebuffed and said ok. Approaching someone is not yet criminal—it is in bad taste to a social conservative base. That said, that base already knew that he was an utter hypocrite in one way—this just demonstrated greater diversity.
Westminster style parliaments have the most ruthless parties
you will find in a Western democracy. If a leader is found wanting, half the cabinet will try to replace them.
