Because Republicans eschew the poor and disadvantaged. Or do you see Republicans jumping into public office in these areas? Republicans write such cities off as useless bastions of people craving dependence.
I write with a broad brush, but is there not some truth to this, that Republicans do not have a clue when it comes to urban representation? Hopefully that’s changing.
I think Republican are not crooked enough to survive in big city politics.

I read Michael Novak in the 80s, The Spirit of Democratic Capitalism. Novak was an ardent Catholic, to be sure. He compared the North and South American continents to note the success of capitalism in the northern continent. He rejected the Marxist social justice pushed by Catholic bishops.
I’ll bet each and every one of them is a democrat run $hithole.

I remember watching game shows in the 60s and 70s that featured Mexico vacations as a prize. Now, Id guess not so much.
