Look what happened to CNN’s ratings when they focused on more anti-Trump stories. It’s not good.

As CNN gives wall-to-wall coverage to stories negative to President Donald Trump, including the Stormy Daniels saga and the Russia collusion story, its ratings are taking a massive hit.

Last May, CNN averaged about 1.12 million viewers during the primetime hours, according to Variety. That figure has dropped to just 859,000 this May, a whopping 23 percent decrease. In the daytime, CNN averaged 821,000 viewers last May, but has accumulated just an average of 649,000 viewers this May, marking a 21 percent decrease. In the coveted 25-54 age demographic, CNN averaged 399,000 last May, while garnering just 286,000 this May so far, a 29 percent decrease.

I don’t think they care about ratings and I don’t think their operating money comes from ads.

They were pretty much 24/7/365 anti-trump a year ago too and a year before that. So I’m not sure a change in anti-trumpness is the thing that caused the ratings drop.

Soros probably shovels money into CNN, MSNBC, etc., so they’re not losing money, only viewers.

CNN is owned by Time-Warner, which owns stuff like HBO and DC Comics. CNN is just an unreported contribution to the DNC.

I’m sure the nonstop breathless coverage of the WH aide’s McCain remark will help turn things around.

Less than a million viewers during prime time is really embarrassing for Avenatti.

It's like you keep hitting someone in the head. Ten blows to the head will do a heck of a lot more damage than 3 blows to the head. Even if CNN anti Trump propaganda hasn't gotten any worse(I think it has), repeated spewing out of garbage for another year will put even more people off than before.
Not to mention there is only so much porn from Stormy Daniels that the average American can take. That's the trouble with porn, you've seen one, you've seen it all. CNN has become the porn channel and they are paying the price.

I've posted this so much I'm tired of trying to educate FReepers who just want to listen to their echo chamber, but you're right. Carriage fees constitute around 50% of CNN's revenue, so they can make half their income by just showing up. The web and other country franchises are lucrative too. Programming and ratings is only important when renewal time comes with the big operators, who will use lower ratings as a lever to try to get a lower carriage fee. But CNN has the better leverage because the cable/satellite companies know they have to have them.

Here's how your monthly cable or satellite bill pays for all kinds of content you probably don't want:

I wouldn't bet on that.

The title claims that this news is "not good."

It is the very definition of "good." IMHO.

Just wait until Newsmax puts in that new lineup they’re negotiating for. CNN will be fourth at best.

This article is screwy.

It is acting like LAST MAY CNN didn’t report nothing but negative news stories on Trump.

They’ve been off the deep end way before that.

As long as the CIA’s heroin/fentanyl sales remain brisk, the CIA News Network will have no financial concerns.

You have to know what their target audience is. Not people sitting at home, it’s people walking through airports.

Agreed. It’s more likely CNN is funded by the CIA with earnings from the CIA’s heroin/fentanyl sales.

That story is going to outlive McCain.

Oh no, now I've done it! That comment is probably going to be the next monthlong story about evil conservative Trump supporters. Oops.
