Don't be an idiot. Under US law at the time a Cuban national arriving in the USA was entitled to asylum. That is a form of legal immigration status, and Elian had applied for asylum. Regardless of the desires of his father, other family members in the USA were in the process of obtaining asylum for Elian, which was the relevant aspect of Elian's status.

His father actually knew of, and approved of the escape. Unfortunately when you live in a Communist tyranny you can't admit to that kind of a crime without suffering tremendously, so Elian's father didn't.

Even the nuns who met with Elian's father in the USA later said they would have supported a different outcome if they had known the truth about what was going on.

What the Clintons did was wrong on many, many levels. Don't put yourself in the same camp.

The lawyer for Elian’s “Dad”, worked with ADM, who was negotiating with the Cuban government to build a refinery there.

I am in the camp of parents first. We can’t save all those communist kids by taking them away from their parents. When did it become conservative to try to kidnap or hold kids away from their fathers because of where they live? Parenting is a gift and obligation from God. You should direct your energy to something other than keeping kids from their fathers especially after their mother dies.

Not surprising. And he probably arranged for a donation to the Clinton foundation too.

I agree a kid doesn’t have the right to make that decision. Especially if their parent is alive. If you find a kid that a government ha specific named to kill or wrongful imprison that might get you asylum.

“No, the analogy is correct. How many of the illegal immigrant children who came to the USA without their parents in the last few years have been sent home to their father and/or mother?”

This is not relevant.

There is an actual case with a father wanting his kid. The mother died. We have no right to save him from his father because of where he lives. Doesn’t matter what else is happening. Deal with the principles of parenting and ask yourself why are you trying to deny the God given gift and responsibility of a kid with a parent.

Nice try at diversion. The truth is that Elian was with the part of his family that had already escaped. His father in Cuba had no problem with Elian or his ex-wife leaving for freedom the USA, like many Cubans do.

Had the USA pushed Cuba his father and his family could have come to the USA as well. But instead, the Clintons went along with Fidel, forcing his father in Cuba to say he wanted his son back in Cuba. Notice that when Elian's father came to the USA he was not able to bring his wife and children with him. Have you ever wondered why?

The lawyer for Elian’s “Dad”

That would be Greg Craig, whom we would come to hear much about throughout the Clinton years.

THE WIFE’S DEATH CHANGED THE BALLGAME

YOU ASSUME A CONCLUSION WITHOUT FACTS.

I can see you are determined to undue the God even rights of parents. You’re no better than Janet Reno. if the father grabbed the kid and got to the airport for a flight to Cuba would you have stopped him?

Don’t bother. I’ve seen all this bravado before and nothing trumps the father. Everything else is immoral and anti-Christian.

I’m out.

Don't project your own biases, and ignorance on other people. Did it ever occur to you that some other people may know much more about the situation that occurred with Elian Gonzales?

Think about this - in reality Elian's dad wanted him to escape to freedom. The Clintons, for political reasons, worked against Elian's dad and Elian himself.

In that context what you are advocating makes no sense - unless you think that the State in Cuba is the father of Elian.

For ANY foreign born kid, if there is a parent or relative in their birth country that wants them back, yes, send in armed law and enforcement, police, troops, whatever it takes, and send the kid home. Send them all home. And if those adults in the US object and refuse to honor the repatriation, jail and deport them as well. Get rid of them all!!! Yes, happy Gonzalez went home!!! Even better that he is still in Cuba.

They need to stop pretending to care. It’s offensive.

Burning children alive is okay,

As long as they are white.

He was zotted during the election fights of 2008. Gonzalez was a Giuliani supporter, and some point he must have crossed a line.

Here is his most recent posting history. You can trace it back, but it looks like he simply got on the wrong side of a fight with one of the more aggressive Freepers of the time.

The real truth is Hillary being a witch needed a fire sacrifice and April 19th was a satanic feast day.
