I disagree. The IG Report was barely on the front page to begin with.
The IG Report is not - and was not ever going to be - a significant political event. It does not recommend that any person should get fired, and it makes no criminal referrals.
Instead - the “Family Separation” issue was an unplanned target of opportunity for the Left, and they have exploited it to maximum effect.
A little historical background will be helpful...
Totally unknown to most Conservatives, Donald Trump's Border policy since January 2017 has been “Catch and Release.”
That's the same policy Obama used for 8 years.
What is Catch and Release?
About 75% of illegal border jumpers have no outstanding warrants, no gang affiliation, and they are not attempting to smuggle anything. They are usually detained for a few days until a positive ID can be made. Then, they are given a misdemeanor citation for illegally crossing the border, they are given a court date, and then they are released - inside the USA - on their own recognizance.
Obviously, most of these folks never show up for court and just disappear.
Politically, the “Mexico Refugee Caravan” changed everything for Trump.
When the Caravan arrived at the border, a senior executive from USCIS publicly revealed that about 75% of those folks would get Catch and Release, if they successfully sneaked across the border.
A week later, Trump suddenly rebuked DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen for lax border enforcement, even though she was enforcing Trump's own policy.
Then, Trump suddenly ordered A.G. Jeff Sessions to arrest and detain everyone who illegally crossed the border.
In my opinion, Trump panicked because the November mid-term election is less than five months away, and Trump envisioned hordes of new “refugees” running across the border just as Republicans were going to the polls.
"Family Separation" is not a political catastrophe for Trump or Republicans, but it was caused by Trump's original border policy, and by his sudden decision to end Catch and Release.
Sad that Trump is falling for it. This is an absurd issue. When previously have the Democrats and the media cared about keeping families together?

I don’t wat to say “Well, duh!”, but, well....duuuuhhhh! Of course it’s a coordinated distraction. All Conservatives know it. All democrap politicians/media know it as they planned it. It’s just the ignorant antifa types, homos, and a few libertarian/deep state Freepers (there’s a venn intersection) who remain intellectually challenged as to what is transpiring.
OK, so let us assume (without being paranoid) that this tsunami of well-prepared TV shows and shots and tours and speeches was coordinated in real time, if not ahead of time.
But why now?
This week, next week, marks the week that the RINO GROPElites were to co-release with the democrats their forced amnesty bill without Ryan. Failing that the RINO ‘s were to release amnesty with Ryan. Trump aborted both end-arounds.
