Kavanaugh Illustrates GOP’s Evolution From Bush’s Party to Trump’s
National Journal ^ | 9-30-2018 | Unknown

CNN’s John King offered one of the sharpest bits of commentary on Thursday in the aftermath of Brett Kavanaugh’s fiery defense of his reputation. This was the day, King noted, that Kavanaugh went from being a “Bush Republican to a Trump Republican.” If there’s any moment in time that captures the GOP’s evolution from the party’s last president to the current one, the cultural showdown over Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination is it.

Kavanaugh, after all, is a card-carrying member of the Republican establishment. He’s a George W. Bush loyalist who served as the former president’s staff secretary after working for him during the 2000 Florida recount. Bush appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. His elite upbringing in the Washington suburbs is worlds away from Trump’s blue-collar political base in the American heartland. ...

(snip)

The longer-term takeaway is that after 2018, there will no longer be an anti-Trump rump of the Republican party. Jeff Flake will be out of the Senate, along with his Trump-bashing colleague Bob Corker. A sizable share of the remaining Republican pragmatists in the House will have either retired or lost reelection. Voters will be faced with a binary choice heading into 2020: Join the party of Trump or be part of the #Resistance.

Kavanaugh, as a past political hand, surely understood that dynamic. A judge who would be culturally out of place at a Trump rally turned to tribal partisanship to rally support for his defense. If he is confirmed by the Senate, it will be on a party-line vote (unless West Virginia’s Joe Manchin decides to support him). And the GOP’s remaining Trump holdouts will have either made their peace with his presidency or defected to the Democrats.

Read it all.

I hope Brett Kavanaugh, if confirmed, learned something after this purging from the fire.

Unlike Kennedy who he's replacing, tends to go with the court of public opinion, when Kavanaugh makes decisions on the SCTOUS, may he remember till his death about the mob rule.

It's my guess that Brett Kavanaugh WAS NeverTrump.

"Welcome to the party, pal"

I’m dying to see his written opinion when one of these College Kangaroo Court “sex assault” cases makes it to the SCOTUS. He’s gotten an up close and personal look at why Due Process matters.

Good article.

When dealing with the socialists who have taken over the Democrat party, you have to change tactics. This is war and nothing is off limits. They are out to destroy this country.

This entire confirmation has shown that traditional tactics don’t work. You’ve got to confront evil and lies head on.

Bush League Republicans must become extinct before the Republic does.

It will be interesting to hear Justice Kavanaugh’s opinion on Trump’s accusers here in a couple years. You know they will trot some out.

On Twitter, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, an honored member of the second highest court in the United States of America, is "a gang rapist".

If you take his side, you are "a rape apologist".

I suspect that Dianne Feinstain’s Coummunist Chinese government handlers instructed her to destroy the credibility of the Supreme Court of the United States and the Rule of Law in this country.

How I wish that were true.
He’s forgetting Romney is joining Sasse, Rubio, Heller, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Graham (who voted for Egg McMuffin), etc.
There’s a plethora of Bush League Republicans in the Senate.

They still won’t fund the wall and they still want amnesty.

“while many women are as motivated as ever to vote Democratic after hearing Christine Blasey Ford’s compelling testimony.”

A lot of other women are disgusted by the Dems - women who have brothers, sons, and fathers whose lives the women don’t wont to be wrecked by accusations without evidence. And any many who votes Dem after this is simply a moron.

Having grown up around Washing DC, and now serving on the Court of Appeals in DC, Kavanaugh is the embodiment of an "insider." Yet it is fellow insiders - other members of the DC Swamp - who are trying to destroy Kavanaugh. It is "Elitist vs. Elitist" for the heart and soul of America.

Kavanaugh served with distinction under Bush. Bush has not lifted a finger to help Kavanaugh. They are trying to destroy the man and Bush cannot be bothered.

"CNN’s John King offered one of the sharpest bits of commentary on Thursday in the aftermath of Brett Kavanaugh’s fiery defense of his reputation."

In other words, it's vulgar and in bad taste for Republicans to defend themselves from attacks on their character. Leftist anger is righteous, conservative anger is pathological. Got it.

He issued his own statement of support as well.

Bush has not lifted a finger to help Kavanaugh.

Not true. The story says, and I've read in other articles, that President Bush has been calling the squishy R senators on Kavanaugh's behalf.

He’ll revert right back to thinking they’re his friends and reach across the aisle. It’s what Republicans do.

But, is GWB’s call because of his strong stand on behalf of the essential need for fidelity to the Framers’ Constitutional principles, or might it be for future “calls” for a return to globalist causes? Once a 100% supporter, he has lost my confidence almost entirely. Only a shift away from his father’s one-world, globalist ideas and toward our Founders’ national sovereignty principles would convince me to believe him again.
