VANITY: Trump's statement about "the only country in the world" was absolutely correct. Lefties and media are unable to understand a simple sentence.
Trump's exact quote on the Axios interview was:
Were the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States..."
Because this quote makes the MSM "feel" uncomfortable, they call it "a lie," even when close reading shows it to be absolutely true.
Anything that goes against the leftie hallucinations about the state of the world they automatically call a "lie," ...even when what makes them feel bad is the absolute truth.
Fascist and communist governments, the answer is obvious.
How do the idiots, er, countries in Western Europe handle it? Anyone know?
And yes, I realize we are “idiots” as our laws stand right now.
But didn’t this have something to do with slavery at some point?
I don’t know what, just remember reading that here.
Brazil offers birthright citizenship.
I think that most countries offering birthright citizenship have a few requirements, perhaps that you must be in the country legally. Maybe not even on a visitor visa.
I think it is most of the Americas although some countries probably have exceptions for diplomats or other jobs in service of their home country.
The 14th amendment is a multi-faceted amendment from Reconstruction dealing with many post-war issues, among civil rights for blacks, which the opening salvo of section 1 achieved by ensuring they were legal citizens of the United State - in direct confrontation to the awful Dred Scott decision.
Or are you saying that being born in Brazil makes you a citizen of the United States?
I stopped saying I have knowledge about something I don’t a long time ago. Too much effort covering the tracks.
I know NOTHING of the 14th amendment and must go read it today.
And then read about its implications.
With their new President in Brazil, that may be changing there as well ...
Or are you saying that being born in one of these countries makes you a citizen of the United States?
What makes it accurate is the extra he added: with all of these benefits until age 85.
Only 30 countries offer birthright citizenship.
But does being born in those countries automatically make you a citizen of the United States?
Birthright Citizenship in the United States A Global Comparison
Yes, the whole idea of “birthright citizenship” only began in this country after we passed the 14th amendment to grant citizenship to former slaves and then later some courts started interpreting that to apply citizenship to some people with foreign parents, and then Congress picked up the ball and formalized it in our immigration laws.
I dont think your understanding of Trumps statement is correct.
Of course not. I provided you the list of countries that have birthright citizenship for their countries.
Are you f'ing nuts to think that birthright citizenship means being eligible for US citizenship?
