FWIW, Tom Skilling on WGN here in Chicago (a respected meteorologist while also being a global-warming alarmist himself ...) was on both TV and Radio here and said all the models are showing this to be a relatively mild winter with average temperatures and for the next 45 days at least there doesn't appear to be any "polar vortex" that will create a harsh winter. The models that he compared were both the European and North American models which showed relatively the same thing. When the European and North American models show the same thing it's a pretty sure bet the models are reasonably accurate since they often show some pretty noticeable differences.

Again, this from a "global warming / climate change" alarmist.

Climate change is not in dispute.

If he’s advocating awareness of climate change, he has integrity.

If he advocates lower carbon emissions because it’s a principle of good stewardship, then he’s possibly a good guy.

But if he exaggerates without regard to facts and truth that human-caused carbon emissions are causing dangerous changes in weather fronts leading to countless deaths, mayhem, poverty, starvation, remedied only by a crushing carbon tax levied on wealthy advanced regions however defined and redistributed to poor regions however deemed and defined, ...

then he’s whacked.

Yeah - I've seen stories about the intense cold rolling along the ground and killing herds in field....closest i cam was in Rochester, NY in the late 60s....started jogging to a friends house in 65 degree weather....by the time I got there (2 miles and about 16 minutes,), it was 35 degrees and still heading down a bit. Lucky for me it wasn't a full-blown deal...

But, my point was that we've been having severe cold events on and off for as long as any of us can remember....even when we break heat records, the impact is not the same.....and we also appear to be heading for a time with way more cold events...
