Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday asked President Donald Trump to reschedule his State of the Union address or deliver it in writing as long as the government remains shut down.
"Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th," Pelosi wrote in a letter to Trump.

I dont know if he can. Its by invitation of the house. What if he gets invited by the Senate instead? What's to stop McConnell from offering an invitation?

After pondering a bit....Keep the original date....update his speech....and deliver before Congress. Dems will pull their usual stunts...refusing to stand, booing, etc etc.
Good Americans don't like such behavior.
But then again....just don't respond to her. He is not obligated to do so. What may be custom is not mandatory.

Never happen. Empty suit Republicans do not know how to communicate.

Correct, but he could give it as a nationally televised address from another location (maybe the Oval Office, or maybe at a great American historic site). The Constitution does not specify a live address before Congress, only a report on the “State of the Union”..... many early Presidents delivered simply a written report, until the oral address tradition developed.
Considering how the Demoncraps act out as perverse bums when POTUS Trump speaks, it would be better to have a State of the Union event without them.

POTUS Trump can submit his written “report” separately from a live event, which can be done in a place and manner of his choosing.

I posted the same thing up-thread.
Now that I think about it, given how the House Democrats recently went to Puerto Rico to beach party, President Trump should announce that he's giving the SOTU address in the grand ballroom at Mar-a-Lago, since the Democrats like beaches so much.

I’ve got it: he should assemble Republicans at a location near our southern border and give a hell raising speech on national (in)security so long as the Demoncraps play their sick games.

If she is serious she should rescind the invitation already sent and then tell him no invite until shut down is over.
She does not want to do that so she is putting it on the President not to show up.
Actually he should do a Rally and do the state of the union at the rally.

Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution states that the president shall ''from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient. The Donald can just say no. We need a State of the union address now, more than ever. Pleasure previewing pecker puss Pelosi's petty pout.
