Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday asked President Donald Trump to reschedule his State of the Union address — or deliver it in writing — as long as the government remains shut down.
"Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th," Pelosi wrote in a letter to Trump.

Apparently, the POTUS can give any number of STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESSES anywhere and anyway he chooses.

Trump MUST go ahead with the State of the Union Address. He should have life sized photo cut outs made of Nancy and Chuck and put them in chairs beside the podium.
Trump should just give the address to the nation, or the Senate. He can submit the written report, after his address airs.

That's the first thing I thought of. Who says he needs to be present in front of those jackals? The only security concern I would have is for his safety with those clowns.
Side note, I bet the secret service is bristling at Pelosi's insinuation that they can't do their job because of funding concerns.

Giving the address in writing just plays into the democRATS' collective hand. Trump is too smart to fall for that trap.

Looked it up.. The Black Caucus wore Black and then added those African scarves - sat on their tooshes when others applauded, etc. No surprise there.
This year, who knows.......what type of garb they’ll dream up. Probably bought at taxpayer’s expense.
She sent him a letter in early January that invited him to give the SOTU on the 29th. ...So, he’s been invited.
I suggest he book the largest arena in the USA and have a rally for the SOTU.

If she tries to prevent it, All President Trump has to do is Call a JOINT Session of Congress. See who shows up, and then shame them and have a NO WORK, NO PAY EO ready to sign in front of the American people.
No invitation necessary, no prescribed form, no date or time mandated, no rebuttal required.
IMO this is a 'rebuttal' issue, plain and simple. A written address would give time for a thought out rebuttal whereas an immediate, on the spot response thereafter wouldn't.
Somebody doesn't want an 'American Gothic 2.0' or 'Jindal water bottle' appearance.

They would be seen as HEROES OF THE RESISTANCE to the Left and as SPOILED CHILDREN to the right...................
