“And I have to wonder if FOX News knows that DISH is running ads on their channel to send viewers to NBC!!!”
Perhaps the ad slot is not owned by Fox News and is not Fox’s to sell.
I will try your suggestion to see what happens.
There is another irregularity as well. I DVR Tucker Carlson and many other prime time shows on FOX. The timer is set to record new and reruns for each show. It is not uncommon for the shows not to record. This does not happen on other channels. Granted I do not record the fake news channels but I have 130 timers for various shows without issue. This has been happening for the past 3 yrs.
Let FoxNews know directly.
I can’t find any mention of any such contract between FOX and DISH regarding DISH overlaying advertising on FOX with commercials chosen by DISH.
I sent an email.
The DVR is also pretty stupid about using all three tuners properly. It will try to use a tv that's in use and flash a message that it's going to change channels to record. If the viewer clicks deny the record is lost. It will do this sometimes even when another tuner is available.
It may be a local market thing. On ATT Now (internet TV) when they don’t sell an ad for my market they just say ATT NOW will be right back.
I know some markets buy different things. So it could be your local market is getting the MSNBC or that Trump is only paying for a targeted market and MSNBC is paying for the other.
The technology in the dish system isn’t really recording what you see though and you’re seeing the national broadcast when you rewind.
Just an educated guess. But your theory could be correct.
Was Greg just interrupted mid-word, or was this in a place where you’d usually expect a commercial? Networks usually revert one or more commercial positions to local stations for them to run their ads. Those local slots are often used by cable systems to run ads, and I suspect Dish does the same thing. The alternative would be to just put up a slide and play music or something. There’s generally no requirement in the distributor’s agreement that they only fill the slots with ads for programs from that network. So, if it was at the position of a normal commercial, it was just Dish filling the hole, and if it cut right in the middle of a word, then it was most likely Dish’s automation being mis-programmed.
I used to work at a local NBC/ABC affiliate, we’d run promos for the other net’s shows in our local ops all the time.
Good guess. Dish covers the local position, recorder is getting the raw network feed. Probably too big a PITA for them to record every possible variation, so they just record the net feed, and that’s what you get on replay.
“DISH ran an ad for NBC on the FOX News channel and they used it to prevent me from seeing the Trump commercial!”
Make sure the Trump campaign knows. They will take care of it. They will fight back, get good press coverage for calling out the crooks, and it will cost them nothing.
Forget about Faux News. They are becoming part of the DNC propaganda machine. If you don’t get One America News, let your satellite/cable provider know you want them to carry OANN.
Dish’s latest DVR can record up to 16 programs at one time.
My Dish DVR also stopped recording Tucker Carlson. I had to set it up again twice before it would “take”. That was yesterday. I had missed Monday and Tuesday, but was able to get the 2nd showing last night.
For more information on how to advertise on FOX News Channel, contact your local Comcast Spotlight Representative.
*Please note network insertion dependent on market
I suppose Dish has the same time from Fox.
I noticed my local cable service substituting commercials during the Super Bowl a few years ago.
If I were paying top dollar for a Super Bowl ad and some local cable service overwrote my commercial, I’d be upset.
I have Direct TV and they have the same Lester Holt commercials. It’s not Dish TV, it’s Fox.
The targeted-market is likely the answer.
U a smart freeper my FRiend.
I hate our cable service. It’s out of service more than it’s on and, of course, they never send a refund. Been this way for 20 years. That said, at least MSNBC isn’t offered so we’re not paying that garbage.
Speaking of which, we don’t get the garbage picked up half the time, either.
Thank you. Still, that’s kind of disturbing that DISH is covering over ads for President Trump.
