John Bolton -- a 'great American' -- served Trump well
Fox Business News ^ | September 10, 2019 | Lou Dobbs

There is a widening differential between the America as described by the national, left-wing media and the America in the world in which most of us live.

And a commensurate gap between President Trump's historic accomplishments and the caricature of the president drawn by both the leftist media and the radical Dems who so viciously attack Mr. Trump in the mad, continuing obsession to not only to block his agenda, to slow his achievements, to somehow, no matter how vicious or craven the means, prevent his reelection in 2020.

The president, at this critical moment, has successfully maneuvered the Chinese into a new reality that replaces their now-defunct obsession of world domination. Iran understands the economic power of America and understands because of President Trump. They don't want to ever test our military power at all.

Afghanistan, North Korea and the worldwide deployment of our troops are the legacy of decades of American arrogance and inertia of bureaucracies that have inhabited our state department for years, and visionless leaders in the White House.

People think that Trump’s revolving door is a bad thing. It’s not. Bolton had a role to play, he finished his job, and his services are no longer needed. The fighting over who fired who is just cheese in the maze for the media to snack on.

The best SOS we never had-heard it here. Guess he outlived his usefulness as Trump is changing the world.

One of Bolton’s biggest projects has been trying to engineer an overthrow of the Venezuela government.

I may not like Venezuela’s elected leaders, but why are we spending money and other resources to butt in down there? This is the nation-changing fixation that made Bolton unacceptable.

Meanwhile, as “National Security” advisor, how much did you hear him say about security at our own border? Trump has had to carry the ball on the wall. I never heard a peep from Bolton. Bolton was much more focused on meddling in countries far away.

Apparently not or he would still have the job.

I wish Bolton the best. I hope he and Trump have not burned their bridges.

6 … I may not like Venezuela’s elected leaders, but why are we spending money and other resources to butt in down there? …

Maybe because Ivan is building a military seaport there, periodically sending bombers there, and the ChiComs are also sending ships there?

Trump can find better than Bolton indeed, but from the general spirit of your Buchananite posts, I wonder who do you suggest? Tulsi Gabbard? Assad?

Putin?

Perhaps...I get the sense it ended on a bad note. And something to do with the Camp David/Taliban talks unraveling had something to do with it...a last straw sort of thing.

Why do you think they are sending bombers and ships?

With all the vitriol against Bolton on the Free Republic today it’s going to be interesting to see who Trump picks as NSA. I’ll bet there’ll be more gnashing of teeth when it happens. I think all this fascination with Gabbard is fool’s gold.

I've had Bolton on my "sh!t list" ever since the late 1990s when the guy took it upon himself to sign open letters in the New York Times calling for the U.S. to overthrow the Milosevic government in Serbia to help the radical Islamic separatists in Kosovo.

Good riddance to him.

And no, Lou -- he was not a "great American." He was a war-mongering draft dodger who was always looking for ways to send SOMEONE ELSE'S KIDS to go fight stupid wars for his financial backers.

John Bolton performed a great service to our country by getting Americans to eat more oatmeal.

I may not like Venezuela’s elected leaders, but why are we spending money and other resources to butt in down there?

Maybe because its the right thing to do so long as we don't invade the country?

And, yes, Maduro is in bed with both the Cubans and Russians so there is a national security interest in doing so.

But, this pretty well sums up the isolationist mentality.

Someone else's kids died on 9/11 and were killed by ISIS. And, more will die if we're stupid enough to ignore the threat of Islamic radicals.

The biggest state sponsors of radical Islamic terrorism are Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Osama bin Laden was being sheltered by Pakistan's intelligence service after he fled from Afghanistan, for heaven's sake.

Have you ever heard John Bolton call for U.S. military action against either of these countries?

Oh the drama. Trump has said several times that he knows that Bolton (paraphrasing) is ready to bomb anything that moves. Trump likes to listen to other people views and opinions. If nothing else, Bolton has a lot of knowledge and experience, and Trump leveraged that. IMOHO
