Never Marry a Feminist
Suzanne Venker ^ | 15 Jan 2020 | Suzanne Venker

I have a proudly progressive male friend who married a feminist some years ago who asked him to take her name. They didn’t end up going that route, but my friend seriously considered it.

I thought of him when I read this recent article headlined, “He said ‘yes’! Why aren’t more women proposing to their boyfriends?” and when I came across this new Booking.com commercial that shows a woman proposing to a man.

Both are examples of rejecting tradition in the name of sexual equality.

When it comes to love and marriage, couples typically fall into one of two groups: those who embrace tradition, and those who do not. Those in the latter group believe conventional sex roles make a woman “less than” and thus seek to make men and women interchangeable.

The hard core feminist types, the ones who think a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, are not good marriage or relationship material. I personally have steered clear of such females.

And tend not to reproduce, thus fixing their own problem.

I have no feminist friends. Those poor souls I knew in high school who claimed to be my friends all deserted me when I turned 18 and sought out a man to marry. It got worse when I not only had twins but when I said I wanted to have more kids.

None of those people are in contact with me ten years later and I didn’t bother with my 10 year reunion.

There is an unwritten law on FR that we always comment on an article before reading it.

Well, this is a very good article.

From the ‘about’ blurb:

SUZANNE VENKER is a relationship coach and the author of five books on the ways in which our culture undermines love and family. “It is my passion to help women avoid the pain and anguish that comes from following the feminist script.”

I disagree that most couples fall into one of two categories; things are much more complex than that. But I like what Venker is trying to do.

Yep.

This observation applied to a wider subject matter explains the sexual revolution, the homosexual agenda and why Jane Fonda is still occasionally believed to have been an actress.

I don't know, but I think she took the pants and put him in a dress.

The Queen might fix it ...
