In a large windowless room in the bowels of the CIA, there is a sign that reads every day is september 12th. When I first saw those words, during a tour of the agency’s operations, I felt conflicted. As a New Yorker who witnessed the 9/11 attacks, I once felt that way myself, but by the time I saw the sign, during the second term of the Obama administration, it seemed to ignore all the things that our country had gotten wrong because of that mindset. Now, as COVID-19 has transformed the way that Americans live, and threatens to claim exponentially more lives than any terrorist has, it is time to finally end the chapter of our history that began on September 11, 2001.

Well it is over in the sense that we don’t see headlines of beheadings and rape of Christians, thanks to Trump.
Now, as Planned Parenthood has transformed the way that Americans live, and threatens to claim exponentially more lives than any terrorist has . . .

This guy eloquently conflates ideas and casually draws these conclusions which we are to accept because of how he feels about them.
An academic egg head no different than a Wolfowitz (government and academia is full of pedigree PhD’s with zero practical experience except, writing pretty speeches). Making things “sound good” doesn’t make them so.
There are so many things screwed up this nicely written piece that it would take days of writing to unscrew it.
We wasted two decades chasing a bunch of camel jockeys while we ignored the real threat, CCP.

It is an unfortunate tic of the over educated to ignore the unseen, that which doesn’t happen.
One thing that hasn’t happened since September 12 is another mass-casualty attack in the US.
