“However I do not see him as outright traitorous as Romney or McCain.”

I do not agree. His ego and stubborn nature led him to create the Progressive Party (Bull Moose) to run against Taft, the Republican nominee. After losing the election to Taft, he ran as the Progressive candidate again, the next time, which threw that election to Wilson, who won with only 41% of the vote. In affect, by splitting the GOP, Roosevelt gave the presidency to Woodrow Wilson. NOT an honorable accomplishment for a Republican.

McCain saw Teddy as his idol, and he had the same ego and bull headed temperament as Teddy.

History is fascinating.

Let’s assume Teddy never interfered with that election and Taft won. Then of course the rest of history would likely change accordingly. Where I am going with this is the Treaty of Versailles being so extreme it gave Hitler the opportunity to get into power.

Would Taft have insisted that treaty treat Germany a little better?

Fast forward to today. Let’s assume we tangle with Russian and win. With the dems apparently hating Russia with a purple passion, and if a dem were President, would we get the same results, being punishing Russia to the extent of starting another war?
