A 4th of July Challenge
Self | 4 July 2020 | LTC.Ret

1900's --- The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. 2000's --- Education vs indoctrination, which will it be?

On July 18th I will file to run for our local School Board. I hear it is a tough job that no one likes. I sincerely doubt I'll wilt. I will bring history, patriotism, service, honesty, and truth with me. Maybe, just maybe, I can change the trajectory of the lives of our next generation while their ears are still open to hear by pushing good choices in curriculum, textbooks, and teachers.

I challenge everyone reading this to help me take back education from the socialists. Teach if you can. Work at or with a local school in any capacity available to you. Make a difference.

TOPICS: Education; Politics; Society
KEYWORDS:
Age doesn't matter --- I am 65. Work matters. Effort matters. Saving our history, culture, and Country matters. It is worth it!!!

I'll take point. Follow me . . .

God Bless you for your past and present service.

I hope you make a difference. Many school boards are incompetent at best. Corrupt at worst.

The whole rotten structure of education is too far gone to resuscitate. Lincoln educated himself without any of these statist indoctrination camps and it turned out pretty good, even with his dire poverty in the wilderness. With the Internet education is cheaper and more efficient than ever before. The time for Separation of School and State has come. Defund the State indoctrination camps.

“The time for Separation of School and State has come. Defund the State indoctrination camps.”

YES YES YES!

We must use this crisis to OUR benefit, too!

Do both -— infiltrate and separate. It just might be quicker and easier that way.

If you win a seat, please do me a favor. Don’t automatically assume that teachers are part of the problem. Yes, there are bad teachers. Just as there are bad doctors and bad plumbers.

But most teachers just plug away, and do the best they can. They are handicapped by insane curriculum requirements, and by insane discipline restrictions.

Here’s an example. In my school district, every kid must take advanced algebra. That’s crazy. It would be like requiring every kid to play football. And if a kid misbehaves in advanced algebra class (because he has no interest or ability), he cannot be removed. So the teacher must spend a good amount of class time dealing with that kid instead of teaching.

I have taught in both private and public schools. So I’ve pretty much seen it all. And here’s my rough estimate:

5% of teachers are just bad. They are in the wrong line of work, and should be let go.
5% are good enough, but they let their personal opinions bleed into their lessons. They need a course correction from a supervisor.

25% are just awesome. They are master teachers who are worth twice their salary. These folks inspire kids, and change lives.

That leaves the 65% whom I’ll call journeymen teachers. They are competent, and will go the extra mile when necessary. But they don’t have any special flair. While I’d like to see my kids be taught by a master teacher, I’m okay if they end up in journeyman’s class. Those teachers will get the job done...if the student is willing to learn.

(Sorry for the length of this post. But as you can tell, it’s something I’m passionate about. And if you care to ask me any questions, please do.)

I understand. Both my brother and my sister-in-law were teachers. I watched the slow leftward brainwashing that affected even them somewhat.

But no one can get to the goal without a good map. The map needs to lead toward the Declaration, the Constitution, and our American culture. We need to be in on the drawing of the map.

The way our government works is messed up. It should be the last row in this picture.

I sure wish I could learn how to post pictures.

Agreed. If you win your seat, take a close look at the curriculum (of course). But also take a close look at what’s being presented during the in-service days.

When I first started teaching, the in-service presentations were straightforward. If you were, say, a chemistry teacher, you’d go to a presentation that would introduce you to new lab techniques.

But now these in-services are more like political indoctrinations. You are supposed to just sit there while some “consultant” lectures you about social issues.

Quick story: At one of these indoctrinations, the presenter started things out by telling each table to pick a name for themselves. The gym teachers all sat together. They called themselves “The Coaches”.

I sat with some conservative teacher friends. We called ourselves “The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy”. The presenter was not amused. But we were.

By the way, this was at an inner-city high school. I’m guessing that maybe 40% of the teachers were Ronald Reagan conservatives. I know that will surprise some people.

God bless you for your willingness to enter the battle for the minds of youth!

Oh, my!!! How ignorant are these 21st Century "educators"!

"Fellow-citizens, the ark of your covenant is the Declaration of independence. Your Mount Ebal, is the confederacy of separate state sovereignties, and your Mount Gerizim is the Constitution of the United States. In that scene of tremendous and awful solemnity, narrated in the Holy Scriptures, there is not a curse pronounced against the people, upon Mount Ebal, not a blessing promised them upon Mount Gerizim, which your posterity may not suffer or enjoy, from your and their adherence to, or departure from, the principles of the Declaration of Independence, practically interwoven in the Constitution of the United States. Lay up these principles, then, in your hearts, and in your souls – bind them for signs upon your hands, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes – teach them to your children, speaking of them when sitting in your houses, when walking by the way, when lying down and when rising up – write them upon the doorplates of your houses, and upon your gates – cling to them as to the issues of life – adhere to them as to the cords of your eternal salvation. So may your children’s children at the next return of this day of jubilee, after a full century of experience under your national Constitution, celebrate it again in the full enjoyment of all the blessings recognized by you in the commemoration of this day, and of all the blessings promised to the children of Israel upon Mount Gerizim, as the reward of obedience to the law of God." - John Quincy Adams (Final Paragraph - "The Jubilee of the Constitution" A DISCOURSE Delivered at the Request of The New York Historical Society In the City of New York, On Tuesday, the 30th of April, 1839, Being the Fiftieth Anniversary Of the INAUGURATION OF GEORGE WASHINGTON as President of the United States on Thursday, 30th of April, 1789, by John Quincy Adams (Eldest son of John Adams, born in 1767, served as Minister to the Netherlands under President Washington, as minister to Prussia and to Russia, as Secretary of State, and as U.S. Senator. He was the Sixth President of the United States and from 1830 until his death in 1848 served the nation as a United States Congressman)
Do any now retired teachers remember when the National Education Association provided booklets and other materials based on Biblical teachings and America's founding documents in order to teach children their rights and responsibilities as good citizens?

Perhaps an examination of this web site may refresh the minds of such teachers. Or, perhaps a reading of this factual account of NEA publications may enlighten others who are younger to understand the degree to which the "progressive" control of education in America may have contributed to our current dilemma.

"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." - John Adams - 2nd President of the United States and advocate for the Declaration of Independence

If you win, please push for Separation of School and State.

Government schooling cannot be reformed.
