Because Trump isn’t leaving after winning by a landslide? Because the troops aren’t there to protect a Biden inauguration, but are there to protect the Capitol from those who will riot when they realize Biden isn’t going to steal this election after all?

That works out to $26.67 per Guard member per day.
Or $1.11 per hour if they're on duty 24 hrs.
Even if their pay is covered by some other govt entity, is all that food and transportation and lodging going to cost that little? What am I missing?
Several things about this ‘story’ don’t make sense. I would imagine the Guard is issuing meals/rations, so they probably aren’t getting more than $10 a day in pocket money.
Most Army Guard folks would NOT be put up at hotels, and they are probably sleeping in sleeping bags at some local military post.
I’d regard this figure of $800k a day as fake news unless some Guard folks fess up to getting hotel rooms/$60 in food-money per day.
That is not surprising as not much about this whole thing makes any sense at all.
Frankly, I don't think many of the players involved on the Democrat side have thought things through and are just trying to manufacture a narrative that they may end up regretting We are already under pre declared state of emergency so with a stroke of a pen they become under the control of the President at that time.

The poor old man can not deliver a motivating speech. This inauguration farce will go down in history as the worst ever! Any American of sound mind and body would not go near Washington. DC for the Biden inauguration, whether they be Democrats/Republicans or, otherwise!!!

What’s the point of two divisions of infantry in DC? The riots in 1968 were settled down with the 82nd Airborne.
A lot of this is theater to keep the people in line.
Well, whoever is ordering all these troops up is either planning an unprecedented move or is trying to make the optics an incredible site.
Will the press report along the lines of unprecedented security on Wednesday for a VIRTUAL inauguration?
Couple all this with the States calling up Guardsmen for around their State Capitols and major cities as well.
I know we’re living in some pretty historic and hostile times, but all this seems way, way over the top. In fact, it downright doesn’t make much sense at all.
The military is not a toy to be fettered away with or used as political pawns. All for a thrown fire extinguisher and a capitol cop shooting? A few broken windows and hooligans running amok inside?
Seriously, what is this show of force and intimidation about? Now they want to protect the seat of government after the cancel culture revolution all summer long?
So they can have a fake virtual inauguration?
