And if you think the VP could unilaterally reject a certified state's electoral vote, then where in the constitution or federal code does he have that power?

The thing is, it missed the target.. MP volunteered and sought the position, he then then swore to uphold the constitution. He did not do it. He is a cowardly traitor. If he can't fall on his sword, resign. He is not much of a man and deserves no respect. There is nothing more contemptible.
Hastert turned out to be a pedophile from years before he was Speaker, admitting to molesting young boys. It’s not a stretch to think he was blackmailed while Speaker. He protected Democrat member of the House William J. Jefferson who was investigated by the FBI to be highly corrupted hiding evidence in his congressional office. Hastert denied the FBI their search authorization to Jefferson’s office.
He was finally convicted on felony charges after stepping down.

Well even if you don’t think he shived Trump you have to admit he shived Flynn, and mishandled the Covid response.
Pence figured he can’t run for president until 2024 either way... whether he backs Trump in the electoral vote count or not. Pence must have concluded it will be best to remove Trump from the presidential possibility, and gain favor from moderates in both parties for a run in 2024.

I disagree. This nonsense against Pence needs to stop. Your theory is not even in the Constitution unless you really want to twist it to your own liking like that lawyer did.
If you truly think Trump was going to somehow still be president, then Trump (who was the president and could invite all sorts of orders), not Pence, should have stepped up to plate and done something about it.
Obviously, Trump didn’t. Just like Trump didn’t walk down the street to the capital like he said to everyone that he would.

I’m not a constitutional scholar, but I don’t think the VP has much in the way of constitutional authority to change the results of an election.
At the very point the one objecting Senator was needed to begin the debate spoke up, which would determine what would happen to the double set of electors, Pence consulted with the Congressional parliamentarian instead of the Constitution.
He should have paused the hearing and waited for the melee to end, and then continue with the debate.
Instead, he called for a vote, UNCONSTITUTIONALLY.
They were not supposed to proceed with any sort of vote until the double electors where decided upon.
So, Pence has added his name to the group of people whose name will become a byword as he walks down the street.
We have an entire group of establishment Republicans who may not realize it, but who have foolishly ended their political careers. Those who betrayed President Trump will likely not be forgotten. Most people who voted for President Trump will not vote for them even if they do a hell of a lot of pandoring to President Trump in the future. The Democrats hate them anyway so they obviously will not vote for them. We are going to be seeing a big turn over because of this. This is another example of Republicans snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
I am SURE he wants the 2024 nomination, BUT he needs the blessing of Trump around early 2022. He’ll try his best to make sure we forgot about his backstabbing.
Obviously PDJT will tell him to go screw himself.
