Uncle Fultie Explains the Spiritual Psychology of Humor, and the Desire for Fame
Life if Worth Living ^ | 1967 | Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Posted on 03/15/2021 12:42:54 PM PDT by CharlesOConnell

Archbishop Fulton Sheen had gone up against "Unclie Miltie", Milton Berle, and had beaten him in the ratings, so the Archbishop referred to himself once as "Uncle Fultie".

In this color video, Sheen explains some of the mystery about the human sense of humor.

He refers to a kind of "holy shame", called in French, "pudeur", not so much shame at sexuality or nudity, but a kind of reverence at holy things, of which the Catholic Church taught (until recently), that sexuality had a part in the holiness.

I watched him when I was very young, but even then he was so impressive that I actually watched and listened. He is such a far cry from a good many “bishops” (small b intended) currently pretending to be Catholics.
