Shoppers had better start budgeting more for their grocery bills, according to the latest consumer price index, which shows prices are increasing — and they’re likely to keep going up.

The monthly consumer price index, released Tuesday morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, showed a 0.6 percent increase in March, the largest one-month increase in nearly a decade. Over the past year, prices have increased 2.6 percent overall.

Gas skyrocketed up 9.1 percent last month. Since February, fruits and vegetables have risen nearly 2 percent and the index for meats, poultry, fish and eggs have risen 0.4 percent, according to the government figures.

Expect $4/gallon for gas by Memorial Day, and $5 possibly by the end of the summer with gas rationing a possibility. Thank you Obama and Biden!

$2/gal gasoline is white privilege. You need to purge your guilt and pay $5.

$5.72/bushel corn is not going to make food cost less either. Meat prices will at least double.

Too much money chasing after too few goods.

Thank you left! Thank you Joe Biden!

Because of the Keystone pipeline shutdown, prices for EVERYTHING will continue to go up. Biden and his puppet masters are evil.

“Over the past year, prices have increased 2.6 percent overall.”

What BS!!! How about since January. At my local Kroger milk is up 80 cents, eggs up 50 cents, etc.

Not sure where you live, I'm about 25-30 miles southwest of Shitcago here in Hellinois. Depending on what you're buying, meat prices have already doubled -- and then some.

80/20 ground beef was around $4.50/lb back in December, it's well over $9/lb now. The last Ribeye I bought was over $15/lb and that was just a week ago when the weather was 82 here and I wanted to grill.

Fruit and Vegetable prices are going way up here too. And the dumbass & whore in the White House say there's no inflation. ROFL!

2024 cannot come fast enough at this point, and I'm typically not one to wish time away at my age.
