Gandhi once famously said, “BE the change that you wish to see in the world.” Those words have never held more significance for me than they do now.
I believe that people who hold traditional values have made a grave mistake by falling to the temptation to react to the evil we see all around us.
Of course, there is a need to defend our values, and to point out lies and hypocrisy where we see it. As an American, it is clear as day that we are under unprecedented and unrelenting attack.
This site has made this defense on various fronts.
But the need to defend our values should really occupy just a fraction of our time and energy. The most powerful way to defend our values is to LIVE them!
And we need to PROMOTE what we live!
The young and the weak of faith should know what our values are, and the way we live them out should penetrate the hearts of those whose hearts have not yet been terminally shut.
Are you LIVING out your values and inspiring others? Or are you just complaining about the evil that is engulfing us?
I’m not judging here. It is easy to fall into this trap. Yet it is the default position for most.
We must change this!
If you are unwilling to, then you will die in your bitterness, and you will be of no true help to your loved ones, let alone your country.
But if you are willing, I promise you a life of real purpose and joy.
This is the future of Old School. We will promote natural health, success, and freedom. Frankly I too have fallen into the trap of playing defense–which is mostly politics. There is certainly a place for politics, yet merely trying to make political change without changing hearts and minds (the culture), is a failed strategy–it can never work.
The late Andrew Breitbart famously pointed this out by stating that politics is DOWNSTREAM of culture.
So moving forward, Old School will heed to Gandhi’s admonition to “BE the change we wish to see in the world.” And I plan to bring the thoughts of guest contributors to the site as well to illuminate how WE can be this change.
I hope you come along for the ride. I’m convinced that the only way we can change the world is to allow God to change us.

Nope. Gandhi was a Hitler lover and an anti-Sematic.
You mean we should sleep naked with children to test our “chastity” and drink our own urine? No thanks!
If you wish to use Gandhi as a leader, you will be leading to the deaths of millions of people.
As SkyDancer commented, Gandhi was a believer in Hitler and his evil view of what (or who) the world should exist as...
Gandhi, pretty much had the backing of what we call the MSM; he used Passive models as a tool within his country, counting on the MSM of that time to be like the children following the tune of the Pied Piper.
Behind closed doors and drawn curtains, however, Gandhi was a monster.
He believed in the destruction of the enemy at all costs.
On a personal note, this depraved creature had young girls sleeping with him at night, as a ‘test’ of his ability to stay pure.
How exactly would you wish to translate having young girls sleep nude next to an old man viewed in context with the sexual abuse issues, today?
No. This man was not worthy of being called a Leader any more than Hitler was a true Leader.
They were both excellent Con Men, with a willing MSM of their time to help them spread their false messages.
Period.
He also published a letter telling Jews to do a mass suicide (250,000) as a form of protest against anti-Semitism in Germany; hypocrite that he was.
....”Gandhi’s that little Yoda dude with a butt-thong.”
LOL!
LOL - also pooped where he slept.
Gandhi was truly evil.
Folks who preach/speak in favor of Gandhi are either very ignorant or willing followers of evil.
After they cremated him they dropped him in the polluted (where you can see excrement floating) Ganges river. Fitting.
Gandhi was indeed a wise man. But he stated that, “What does Jesus mean to me? To me, he was one of the greatest teachers humanity has ever had.”
Unfortunately, Gandhi’s wisdom came from humanity and the human condition, not from the God of the Bible. And unless he repented and got redeemed by the Blood of Christ, he died in his sin nature state and is currently residing in some part of Hell. So no, I do not think it is time we start listening to him. Whatever he said must be compared to what God says in the Bible to determine if it was truly wise thinking or not.
No one minds people with traditional values.
What lots of us mind is people who are hypocrites, or don’t even try to actually *live* their proclaimed values and then spew crap like “Well, at least I *HAVE* values”. No, you don’t.
I’ll take amoral over someone who preaches the Gospel on Sunday and then has their mistress get an abortion or defrauds their congregation subsequently pleading for forgiveness. Hypocrites are lower than BLM, Antifa or the Chicoms in my book, no matter HOW Holy and righteous they are on Sunday.
Don’t preach to others what you don’t live, or you do more harm than good.
How does this relate to the thread?
Gandhi’s words sound way too Obama-esque. And on top of that, they exalt self. This leads to a contradiction in the author’s assertions.
As a response to the OP.
There’s zero shortage of people in America calling for a return to traditional values. There’s a dire shortage of “leaders” and those calling for such a return who actually even slightly attempt to live those values 24/7/365.
I’m sick of CALLS for righteousness, I want to see people living that way- ONE wife for life, obeying EVERY law, raising righteous children for by their fruits shall I truly know them.
The more someone talks about their righteousness, their honesty, their Godliness and asks those qualities of others, the tighter I hold my wallet.
I saw some of your comments, and frankly they’re really dumb. As the article states, Gandhi said to “BE the change we want to see in the world.”
THAT’s what the article is about, and the sentiment is flawless. It also is in NO contradiction to anything in the Bible. In fact, it lines up with Jesus’ life and words directly!
But you’re going all over the map to kill the messenger, because apparently you have no desire to let the messagge resonate in you.
And you call yourselves “conservative.” You have no idea what the real conservative life is all about.
I understand what you mean, RedStateRocker
Ghandi was no example. He advocated non-resistance to the Axis powers. His pacifism is actually evil.
Still don’t see how that relates to the subject of this thread, unless you mean how the author is trying to equate Gandhi’s calls for “change” to such things.
If you can’t, you can’t. Not my problem, just ignore me.
I regard nearly *all* people who pontificate how others should live their lives to be most likely hypocrites, the particular philosophical and/or theological framework making no difference.
Ghandi’s autobiography was interesting, but again, someone who tries to tell others how to live while not meeting their own standards; hypocrisy knows no theological bounds.
