I agree. This is a huge country. We have folks from New York City telling guys in Waco, Texas how to live their lives. I do not see our current political system sustainable. But what will happen? Hard to say. Ultimately, I think we'll see states like Florida and Texas become their own countries.
When the Russians left Afghanistan? That is completely different. The Soviets were deep in debt, had an illegitimate government installed by force and fraud, were running an authoritarian society plagued by universal surveillance, and corruption was absolutely rampant in their government. Totally different from our healthy economy, our honest elections, our respect for free speech and firewall against domestic spying, and our corruption free government that is operating with the integrity of Jefferson, Madison and Washington.

Not really. Their experience and departure was very similar to our own, except they were smart enough to do it ten years faster and not to dump a trillions on their heads.
They had some hard fights, had bases they operated from, trained a local army that turned out not to have much enthusiasm. They set up a puppet government and then had an orderly withdrawal in good order. They didn’t have a Saigon falling moment.
The Russians got chopped up but they left with their tanks rolling out in an orderly manner. There was no Saigon moment to embarrass them
