I think the Soviet Onion fighting Afghanistan led to the collapse of their empire. Lifetime political hacks rose to power but didn’t have a clue how to think or lead.

With that said we need to seriously consider wiping out the region or taking control off the entire middle east for the next century if we are to save western civilization from mainstream Islam.
I thought of this today, and then I recalled a collapse also happened to Great Britain after they meddled in Afghanistan twice.

United States has too many outlets of “bread and circuses”/mortgages/retirement accounts to distract from. Afghan is a non sequitur in terms of a “kill shot” of democrats. Economy is a different story which is more of a connection to the USSR.
I think there is a decent chance that the US will break into smaller pieces. But I don’t see Afghanistan being a catalyst for that. We’re just heading there anyway.
But I do see this pattern:
USSR went to Afghanistan, had a heavy hand, the UN and everybody made some noise, but allowed the Soviets to do their thing. But they failed and ran away.
USA went to Afghanistan, spent 20 years trying to re-shape it and not everybody thought it was OK, but they let us do our thing. But we failed and ran away.
Watch China. They will move in, and they won’t mess around. Remember the Uighurs? China will have a heavy hand, they will settle that place down, move about a million people into the country and really transform it. And what will the world say? It’s OK for Russia? It’s OK for America? But China better knock it off? No. China will have a very free hand in Afghanistan, and they will have more luck than anyone else.

Wokeness is the best term I can conceive for the Left's ruling ideology. It's not really Communism or Socialism, not in any classical Old Left sense. They're no longer into class warfare. The modern Left openly hates the white working class. And they have many wealthy supporters in Big Tech, Big Finance, Big Media, Big Pharma, etc.
The modern Wokeness ideology is Anti-White, Anti-Christian, and Anti-Straight. With a strong disdain for the working class.
They and the Neocons are both part of the Globalist Establishment. I hope they collapse with Afghanistan.
I don't understand why you think this is funny. Too many Americans were killed or maimed due to the utter duplicity and incompetence of the Bush through the Biden administration's foolishness and refusal to fight a war as a war.
At least President Trump had the courage to call them out on this.
Yes with out question we left on our own due to political incompetence and corruption, not military weakness or inability, period.
