I grew up raising cattle, horses, pigs, chickens and other farm animals. The rage lately is to claim that it takes a couple thousand gallons of water to produce a pound of beef. This is utter nonsense! The statistics are based on false assumptions. Water wasn't even one of expenses we figured in. And we didn't feed the cattle grain or even alfalfa on a regular basis. They ate mostly grass from unirrigated fields and land, and grass hay from unirrigated fields.
