That’s a good point. Imagine the 24 hour news cycle, social media and cell phones being around during some of the truly brutal periods in history. It’s bad enough with our current social conditions, like the poorest people being the most likely to be obese.

I agree. A black man who as a child watched his father get lynched for wanting equal rights may not remember the good ole days so fondly.

But black children are being killed for the crime of being in the vicinity of a shootout, and they're just as dead as the blacks who were lynched 80 years ago.

Saying we're any better or worse now misses the point that the human race has always been fallen.

Certainly in some or even most parts of the world. What seems different this time is a near world-wide coordination combined with technology as a multiplier/accelerant. It was a bad to go to be a Catholic in Ireland under the Penal Codes, but there was a France or an America to run to, or at least the ability to lay low if you could live off of the land out of view.
