GM Says It’s Getting A “Better Flow” Of Semis (Chips) And That All Plants In North America Are Operating
Conservative Angle ^ | 11-10-2021

General Motors is out on Wednesday with surprising commentary on the ongoing semiconductor shortage: namely, the auto giant says that it is seeing a “better flow” of semiconductors.

Additionally, GM says that “most of its assembly plants in North America are now back to running regular production,” according to a report by Reuters.

A spokesperson from GM said: “In fact, the week of November 1 represented the first time since February that none of our North American assembly plants were idled due to the chip shortage.”

Recall, at the end of October we asked whether or not the shortage may end early, prompted by surprising disclosures by U.S. Steel.

At the time, US Steel CEO David Burritt said toward the end of his prepared remarks on the company’s conference call that the worst may be passing.

Discussing the demand picture heading into Q4 and the new year, Burritt said that he was “delighted to hear from multiple auto customers, who are foreshadowing that the trough of the chip shortage could be behind us. They’re beginning to add to the fourth quarter and first quarter build schedules, and indicating to us, increasing usage rates, starting as early as next week.“

To us, it was surprise that former JPMorgan news aggregation maven and current publisher of VitalKnowledge Media, Adam Crisafulli, called US Steel’s observation “the most important (macro) comment from any earnings call this morning.”

It wasn’t (and still isn’t) clear what specific macro economic shift may have catalyzed this improvement: after all, West Coast port logjams are about the worst they have ever been.

Given GM’s latest statement, it is now starting to look like what we predicted in late October may have been accurate: “…if US Steel’s channel checks are accurate and automakers are indeed ramping up production, then one of the biggest supply chain bottlenecks may indeed now be behind us (even if there is still a long way to go before the bigger picture renormalizes).”

Unfortunately it won’t improve their vehicle designs or their quality.

Go is run By anti-American New World order globalists who, If they would have listened to President Trump about insourcing American manufacturing, would not be in this mess.

Will that include enough chips for the drunk-o-meters?

Toyota is just the best.

Sure, if you like Stone Age technology. 23 years after GM first introduced Auto 4WD, Toyota still refuses to equip any of their trucks with this incredibly useful wintertime driving technology. Ford and Ram eventually included it on their trucks a few years later, but not Toyota. Instead, you're left with a part-time 4WD drive train that's a nuisance in the winter. There isn't a single thing about Toyota that would ever have me considering buying one.

The cars need better looking grills.
The ones today are terrible looking.
Need more chrome. More comfortable seats.
Better radios.

Auto 4WD is something many people leave on and it screws up their transfer case. I wouldn’t want a truck that decided to use it on its own, I would rather be the one choosing when to use it.

I much prefer part-time 4WD with manual locking hubs.

Apple user?

Automatic 4wd is for soccer moms and soy boys wanting to drive when they shouldn’t because they don’t understand that it’s how good you WHOA that matters in the slippery stuff, not how good you can go.

Auto hubs are nice though. For snowy streets in town.

I was pleasantly shocked when my hot tub repair folks showed up with a circuit board to replace my old one that died.

They had told me “it would be months”....so maybe there is something to this story.

Well, this won’t be an election issue now.

Wise move by the powers that be. If this had continued until next fall, the left would most certainly have taken a beating.

I’ll bet lots of things start improving soon, so they can say they fixed them.

I've been using Auto 4WD for over 21 years now, on three different GM trucks, and have never had a problem with any of them. The only time I go back to 2WD in winter is when I'm on a highway. In town, I use it all winter with zero issues.

That statement is just sheer stupidity. Auto 4WD is the perfect solution for winter driving around town. I've been using it for over 21 years, in three different trucks, with zero issues. During winter there is nothing more frustrating than having some knuckle head spin his rear tires while trying to launch after the light turns green. The rest of us have no problems accelerating from a full stop.

I don't ever want to go back to those days. Auto 4WD with auto locking hubs is the way to go. Never a single issue with three different trucks over 21+ years.

What this means is that used car prices will peak and start heading back down. If selling - hurry up. If buying - wait.

That’s the reason I still have my 2015 Cadillac’s, one’s a CTS and the other is an SRX. Both are low mileage and still have that Cadillac style. I think they look better than the new one’s.
