A Look Back From Today
Vanity, My Memory | Nov 12, 2021 | Me, Frnewsjunkie

Posted on 11/12/2021 1:51:13 PM PST by frnewsjunkie

I looked at some place to put some of my thoughts on one already started, but not to take over someone's post, I will do a vanity.

I am old.. not telling my age, but I remember so much you younger folks are missing and would be good for you to experience.

Sorry... it's not possible! So add your thoughts to mine.

TOPICS: Government; Politics; Religion; Society
KEYWORDS: donaldjtrump; election; religion
i look at today and know you younguns will never know the relaxed and carefree childhood we used to have.....our republic is just gone! corruption is in all the parts of the government and how does a person fire thousands to get rid of corruption? Does not seem possible! God sent us a good man and he was the most capable of all... and you all got rid of him!

Ya know, when the Jews were looking for a King to save them from all the world.... God sent them a King... Jesus.. and they crucified Him.. they did not know they crucified their KIng.. ignorance and power hungry... they rejected him and so they paid the price for years afterwards. They could have had a King and lived a royal life.. but NO, they had to believe what they were sure was right... and HOW wrong they were!

They asked the crowd, which do you want? Barabas (a thief) or Jesus? The crowd yelled, "Give us Barabas". I can hardly read this without wondering where in the world was the knowing who the Man, Jesus, was? He healed people.. He fed them. He talked to them. He lived among them. He did miraculous deeds and still they; rejected Him. When blind, no one can tell you any difference! When you can't see and believe, you are blind and live a life on your own. No inner knowledge. No spiritual guidance. On your own.

NOW, before someone jumps me on Jesus and Trump comparison. I can never compare anyone to the Son of God. But Somehow, Donald J Trump decided to run for the Presidency and he won among the smart lot.. The rest found fault after fault.... forgetting.. bypassing all the good he did for us. No one else cared about the people.. He did. And they tried to get rid of him time after time. They finally cheated their way to stealing an election and the states plus the media, sided with the stealing and voted YES, get rid of Trump!

I don't understand you who think you are wise and do not know the Son of God. How can you live your life with no foundation? Isn't it lonesome sometimes?

If we don't start getting more wise than we've been, we are losing our Republic!!! You do not know what the alternative would be. IF you think communism is an ok government... do some research... go ask someone who fled from it to the US... get smart and fight this with all your might...for your children.. for your grandchildren!!

I can't go to Washington and be in congress... but I will fight his to the end of time!!! I love my country and I hate what I am seeing and living! It's being run by a bunch of illiterate and blind and power hungry rats!!!

I would like to tell all I remember, ... the truth is not being taught and the schools have changed history!

Your examples are spot on. All of America would do well to remember how when Israel turned its back on God; God stop blessing them as a nation. Is the United States of America any different? Clearly we have turned our backs on God, his word and his saving grace. As a result God has turned his back on us and we are reaping what we have sown.

Donald Trump began to move this nation in the right direction, but it will take far more than partisan politics to get America back on track; to make America great again.

I would encourage all of us to study again on the great spiritual awakenings America has had in the past. Unless and until America returns to God we will never be great again.

2 Chron. 2:14. if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land

Amen!!! I thought God sent a man to help us... and the crowd turned on him with a vengeance.

We are in a spiritual battle and unless we recognize that, the enemy has full reign to dupe us and use our ignorance against us. our government is in full cooperation with the entity from the spirit world that wants this country GONE. This Christian nation is in full retreat from what we had with In God We Trust.

Someone else seemed to go to the Jesus/Trump (Donald Trumpkinhead?) connection in this prescient 1992 song...

The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead
by XTC

Let’s Begin!

Peter Pumpkinhead came to town
Spreading wisdom and cash around
Fed the starving and housed the poor
Showed the Vatican what gold’s for

But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?

Oh My

Peter Pumpkinhead pulled them all
Emptied churches and shopping malls
When he spoke it would raise the roof
Peter Pumpkinhead told the truth

But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?

Oh My

Peter Pumpkinhead put to shame
Governments who would slur his name
Plots and sex scandals failed outright
Peter merely said “Any kind of love is alright!”

But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?

Peter Pumpkinhead was too good
Had him nailed to a chunk of wood
He died grinning on live t.v.
Hanging there he looked a lot like you and an awful lot like me

But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?

Hooray for Peter Pumpkin (Hooray!)
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkin?
Hooray for Peter Pumpkinhead

Oh my, oh my, don’t it make you wanna cry?

Songwriters: Andy Partridge

...you younguns will never know the relaxed and carefree childhood we used to have...

We tend to view our childhoods through a golden lens, especially in comparison to the alienation we experience from current norms.

I went through my schooling in the turmoil of the '60s and the stress of nuclear attack drills. Multiple kids in my 5th and 6th grade "accelerated" classes had nervous breakdowns including yours truly. We were prescribed tranks. In 8th grade I was photographed, fingerprinted and interrogated by the FBI in a classroom at school without any notice to my parents. That was the climate.

I know it's bad today but it wasn't peaches and cream back then.

Sounds like you’re the age of my parents. I’ve heard, not too often yet (*zinger*) that “Wish you’d been there! Everything was great! Except...”
The exceptions seem pretty awful. Air raid drills. Vietnam. School — gray, dreary, stultifying school. They didn’t think they’d live very long. Many boomers didn’t.
Also, they’ve always said they had wonderful parents and an idyllic family life, and lately they’re in the “come to think of it..” stage.
I’m having a pretty good time myself. Not romping around Manhattan, excursions to Europe and all, not rolling in clover to that extent, and because they wised up before I came along, they urged me to make my own living, to respect honest labor; but when I see the tv shows, the movies, when I hear the music — I feel I missed America’s best years.
Sure the movies in particular were more dream than reality but now — we don’t even dream that sweet.

I had a decent childhood. No trauma, no weirdo’s...beside the local fire and brimstone preacher dude who wound up taking everybody’s money it turned out, made it thru Vietnam and the draft, finished college, had a good run for the next 50 years.

Now I’m about retired and to the point where I don’t put up with stupid people, brain dead cult like groups, conspiracy kooks, or those who try and dictate to me how to think or believe on issues. i don’t try to tell others how to live or think. And I tell those who attempt to do that to me where they can go and what they can do...:) i can be rude and down right arrogant and also helpful and supportive if I so choose to be.

I feel sorry for today’s kids because of the nonsense they are told and exposed too with nobody telling them the other side. I never had children as they never interested me nor did I want the responsibility that goes with being a parent. My vaga bond life style didn’t fit that mold so I did not go that route. I’ve seen the world, lived in 6 different states, chatted with billionaires, visited Red China in the 80’s.

So yep my childhood was good and my adult hood as well...now we’ll see how I do as an old retired phart...:)

The 60s is when things changed from calm...and I use the word in a way than the dictionary) to rebellion and anger. No more trust. The hippies did their thing and the rest thought, “Hey that’s a good idea...we don’t have to do what is expected”.

It went from Pat Boone and Patty Paige to Elvis and Beatles. when Elvis came on TV, they showed him from the waist up.. and I liked Elvis. But things got rowdy among the youth. Kids in school started their own rules and teachers didn’t measure up to the expectations of time before.

Kids went from obeying parents to don’t tell me what to do.

During the war mothers went to work to replace the men who left for the war. After the war, mothers kept on working and they got used to 2 paychecks. Housing went up as they wanted nicer homes and more than 1 car..

It was a huge change from before WWII and after.. and it was a huge change after TVs.. and it was a huge change after computers. All opened the door to the world... it had not all been opened before. We got our Newspaper the next day from the mailman.. today you get it instantly.

I think for a short answer ... it is chaotic now and we get used to it... the young do not know any different.

I walked home from Sunday night church and Wednesday night church with my grandma. She showed us the big dipper and the little dipper. She showed us the north star and the wet and dry moon.. she told us the names of the weeds on a walk in the woods...what weeds were good and what weeds were not. We fished with a pole and a pin in a creek, before the family down the road put in a bathroom and ran it out to the creek.
We didn’t have bathrooms... we had other arrangements... and if you were at a friend’s house, you didn’t know if he was rich enough to have a bathroom or a toilet..so you hoped you didn’t have to go.

the difference is the absolute calm and no nonsense... today it’s full of worry... and many don’t watch the news for that reason.

I grew up in Cuba. My wife grew up in Iowa.
My worst memories are the missile crisis and the Bay of Pigs (there for both). Hers are when her hometown bakery closed.

I remember when Castro rode into town in fatigues and an open convertible. The crowd cheered and followed him.. he had been fighting with the rebels and had ousted Batista.

Few weeks later he announced he was communist and began confiscating land and homes and anything else.

Cubans fled to the US, by boat, swam, raft... just to get to Florida . . and started all over again.. Many were doctors and lawyers and businessmen.

We are the last place to flee to.... we are it.

I remember the Bay of Pigs and the missile crisis... it was not Kennedy’s best hour.

I had an Asain dentist tell me the other day.. (he was from Cambodia at the age of 8 with his parents).. what’s wrong with the people who think communism is not so bad...they fled and he remembers.

Raised in rural Iowa.

Lots of good. Some not so good.

Good solid education in a small town school. Not many ‘extras’ so opportunities were limited for sports and other extra-curricular activities did not exist.

If they did we often couldn’t participate because of lack of transportation home for after school activities.

Summers were good with no school. We had the best music and the golden age of television. It was my window to what I imagined the “rest of the world” was like. But yet I also knew is was too idyllic. Pop/Sports stars didn’t just drop everything and come to your junior high dance because Marcia Brady, the president of the neighborhood fan club, wrote a sad letter to Davey Jones.

Friends were your schoolmates and neighbors. If they lived within walking or bicycling distance.

Relatives were visited during holidays and family get togethers were simple. I wish I had those parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles still around one more day.

The future was going to be better as it had been getting better since the 1800s. While medicine has improved and technology is light-years advanced we seemed better able to plan and commit in advance and live up to those commitments then.

And you could just drop in on neighbors or relatives without worrying. Long distance was pricey, so just knock and see if they’re home.

Big Sunday get togethers after church... and we knew our cousins...
And we didn’t lock our doors unless we were going away for a week or so..

And I remember being at my friend’s house when we heard yelling outside... very small town .. we ran outside and they were saying “the war is over”.. “the war has ended”... we all went to the church and rang the bell... church was not locked either... it was summer in Indiana and it felt so good to know ration stamps were done with... men were coming home... nylon hose in the store again... and we could take a deep breath .... celbration times!

I knew just about nothing of the war.. except it was going on and we had drills in school... get under your desk if a bomb hits... yes, that was it... and black outs and planes flying overhead.. who were they...

"Few weeks later he announced he was communist and began confiscating land and homes and anything else" Guns and Ammo!

He confiscated guns and ammo first. He knew he had overthrown Batista with weapons and he was vulnerable to the same fate. The rest he, "nationalized"; no private property, everything belonged, "to the people". We continued to live in our home and we gave our farm to my mothers cousin. When we left, (my older brother was part of the Bay of Pigs force and was able to get us out when he returned to the States) our property became state property.

Yes, of course guns and ammo. I neglected
D to add that.
You know what is going on her now. Most of he citizens of the US do not.

Ww have no President now. There is no dept in the gov that will remove the shadow of a man.. they all are with the situation..
Using the man to get what they want

We have never been leaderlress and this vulnerable before... if the people don’t take this serious .. we are in deep trouble.
