Mainstream media outlets and Democrats can no longer ignore that inflation, one of the most terrifying economic events that can hit a country, is bad and getting worse. What’s most disturbing, though, is that the headlines seriously understate what’s really going on. Tucker Carlson, in a monologue that deserves wider attention than it received, reminds us that the feds changed their consumer price metrics in a way intended to obscure that inflation is actually worse than it was 40 years ago.
Although I was a teen during inflation’s peak years in the mid-to-late 1970s, I got a front-row seat for watching how financially disastrous it was for lower-income people or retirees. My dad was a school teacher in a poor school district. Having started off the 1970s with a very low salary, over the next decade his raises never kept up with inflation. For that reason, to keep paying the bills, he did private tutoring during the school year—six to seven hours a day, seven days a week, in addition to his full classroom work. During the summer, he taught summer school and continued the punishing tutoring schedule.
My grandmother, who had once been a wealthy woman, was unable to help. Foolishly, she’d never invested in real estate but, instead, chose the convenience of renting. Thanks to inflation, she died a poor woman. Had she lived another half year, she would have been unable to pay her rent.
So when I see AP admit that inflation is real and extreme, that means something to me:

It means a lot to all of us...more to folks who have seen this before.
Its an old tale whose lessons we never learn. We are doing it again.
Gosh, it seems like only a year ago that the economy was doing just fine. What could have happened?
And this.....the moron who gave us inflation stayed away
from the Army Navy game fearful of Americans jeering him.
Eff him..
Biteme must have barry cooking the books for him. The same shell games that faw te foe availed upon on us all with the blessings, adulation and complete complicity of our so called news sheeple are again upon us. And now with the added twist of definition devolution or moving the goal post analogiestically in some realms.
Shame on the mess
Just got my gas heating bill....$278. Same time period last year was $117. No changes on my part and weather was same. Only variable is the scum Biden.
Yup. Just locked in my annual per-therm rate. Double last year’s.
Wow, that’s more than double.
We do the traditional 7 fishes Christmas Eve in our house every year, having 10 to 12 people over besides ourselves. My wife goes to the same place every year to buy king crab claws and another place for snow crabs.
The King crabs which are usually $225 a box were $395 yesterday. The place she gets the snow crabs from told her they don’t have them, don’t think they are getting them and if they do they will be twice the price.
That idiot in got in the people’s House is what happened.
Speaking of meat for the holidays, was in the store yesterday. Cost of prime rib was through the roof—double per pound from what it was last year.
Let’s say you buy a $400,000 home tomorrow, what’s your rate of inflation for the year 2021 considering the price of your new home in January was $300,000?
Wait just a minute, Tucker. You were born in ‘69 so you weren’t a teen then.
Andrea Widburg was. She is the author of the article referencing Tucker's show.
Real World inflation is between 25% and 30% from the beginning of the year, Hold on tight kids, Brandon is on a roll and we gots to pay for it.
ShadowStats.com is always closer to the truth.
dang
I was guessing it was 20%
invest in commodities
beans, rice, lead....
Our electricity rate went up and they’ve added an extra $25/mo. fee due to the TX freeze last year. Not that our electric company was compromised in any way since winter is it’s low production season. This is a tourist area so only half dozen homes in our neighborhood of around 100 were occupied and needed power. Throw a dart at a map and it’s the same.
Guess where that extra $25/mo. freeze fee is going. It’s going for building gazebos and planting flowers at parks.
In addition, with our borders wide open to "free trade" any interest rate hike now will cause the dollar to rise dramatically against foreign currencies which will destroy what is left of our industrial base.
