Don't blame him, the game has been ruined.
...off Gossage, not Eckersley(heh)
Agree
Even though I mostly remember Jack Buck’s “I don’t believe what I just saw!”
RIP
“One game during Vin’s last year or there abouts (if I recall right) an opposing player came to bat against the Dodgers. The player was from Venezuela, at which point Vin went on to talk about the evils of Socialism going on in that Country (Hugo) love Vin!”
Here it is:

Gibson’s at bat in that game was the stuff of legends.
Gibson had two bad legs and didn’t play in the game until the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 outs, a runner on base and facing a future Hall of Fame pitcher in Eckersly.
Gibson couldn’t get any drive out of his legs so every swing was upper body strength alone.
With a 3/2 count he put everything he could into the swing....Scully announces “fly ball” and then shuts up. He let the crowd and the players tell the story. He knew the game was about the players and the fans, he just happened to have the play by play job.
Vince Scully knew his role and performed to perfection.
That was back when baseball was still considered pure.
Back before the people behind the mic’s needed to be famous.
I miss the old days.
That was like his call on “The Catch” right after he said “Clark Caught It!” he just stayed silent for the next couple of minutes and just showed the crowd cheering.
Don’t forget this one. 1974 in Atlanta.

Me too. That game was just two weeks before my wife and I were married.
When dad, sis and I watched a game on TV, they used to put Vin on for innings 1-3 then 7-9 and switch in the radio announcer for innings 4-6 while Vin picked up the radio broadcast. We would always shut off the TV sound for innings 4-6 and turn on the radio. There will never come again those golden sports days with Vin in the Spring and Summer and Chick in the winter. I do miss them, especially Vin.
The NappyOne
RIP...
I attended his last home game in 2016...It was a memorable experience...
Scully was an Dodgers employee...But, he tried very hard not to show his bias during his broadcasts...For example, he did not sound angry when Dodgers was not playing well...
Unlike Ted Leitner of Padres...He did not hide his anger when Padres did not play well...He did not try too hard not to show his pro-Padres bias...I am not a fan of Mr. Leitner...I found him annoying...
Local LA television stations had extensive coverage of Vin’s death...
Dodgers will come back to LA this Friday...It will start a three game series with Padres...
Friday’s game will probably be a sellout...I am sure that Dodgers will have a ceremony honoring Vin before the game...I think Clayton Kershaw will probably speak...Maybe Jaime Jarrin...
I’m sure it couldn’t have been old age. Must’ve been vaxxed
We will never see his like again.
Vin Scully’s greatest calls...

Well deserved......It's a shame how Monaghan and the Tigers treated Ernie in his end years.
RIP Vin Scully. I listened to many a Dodger game called by Vin. And it’s all brought to you by ... Farmer John!
What more can be said? Scully started with the Dodgers when they were still in Brooklyn and stayed with them into the new millennium. From Robinson and Reese to Koufax and Drysdale to Valenzuela and Lasorda to today's version. Quite an arc.
I thought Jack Buck was great too. For football there was and is no one like Myron Cope. And Keith Jackson.
