Yeah poorly written. What I gathered was..
Non-violent leftist had been drinking and ran over violent right wing kid because he disagreed with the kids politics. The violent right wing kid was out to get the leftist.
The article is crappy. Typical of incoherent garbage contemporary journalism.
I can glean enough from the article:
-Brandt started shit with the kid probably because the kid was wearing a MAGA hat or patriotic t-shirt
-The kid calls his mom saying there’s someone starting shit with him
-Brandt keeps harassing the kid
-Kid calls mom again trying to get a ride, probably leaves to avoid more confrontation
-Brandt runs him down and kills him, leaving the scene
Sounds like a basic drunk driving hit and run and the driver made up some story about Republican Extremist group to explain why he ran over a pedestrian while he was under the influence.
Sounds premeditated to me. Throw the book at him.
