Or, gather up their own troops and go fight in Ukraine.

The European Union is preparing the eighth round of sanctions against Russia as Moscow escalated its war in Ukraine by holding illegal referendums in four Ukrainian regions.

EIGTH round of sanctions eh?
So how'd the first seven sanctions do?
Oh wait, most European countries are suffering super high inflation, super high energy bills, super high food bills, and negative GDP growth.

Hard Winter coming for the Russian economy and Government finances.

The Russians will be very warm with all the heating they need, at very low prices, and plenty of food, even as most of western Europe freeze from high energy bills, and insufficient energy supplies.
Chuckle.

They always pick one place that Russians decided not to defend and then they declare this humongous victory.

I think it was Nikita Khruschev who said “you capitalists will sell me the rope with which to hang you”...paraphrasing from memory.

The ego levels of neo-liberals in EU knows no bounds. I hope the Germans have saved warm military clothing from incursion into Russia during WW-II.

Europe has plenty of coal. They can start using it again or freeze.

Um, yeah. That’s the best way to win a war is to exploit the opportunities the enemy gives you.

They didn't have any warm military clothing in Russia.

Lithuania just announced this week another $2 million in cold weather gear for the Ukrainian military. Putin is the best salesman Ukraine has ever had.

We in the EU will continue shooting ourselves in the foot until Russia comes to heel.

Idiot EU thinks the buyer sets the price for a fungible product with worldwide demand.

My understanding is the price cap on Russian oil would be enforced by restrictions on shipping insurance, largely controlled by the Europeans.

At first glance the scheme seems simplistic and easily worked around. Some entity outside the collective West could easily step in to insure Russian oil tankers and make a lot of money.

But then the Nord Stream pipelines were attacked, which means all the existing assumptions about the risk to Russian oil shipping must be reconsidered.

If the West is willing to destroy critical civilian infrastructure like the Nord stream pipelines, why wouldn't they attack Russian oil shipments not in compliance with the price caps?

Amazing how many times they’ve stabbed themselves in the eye and ears with that sanctions icepick.
————
They can’t help themselves , they have caught the Russian Derangement Syndrome. It effects mainly Democrats, Biden’s war cheerleaders, and the emotionally unstable.

Symptoms: suicidal actions, inability to focus on reality, desire to be told what to think, loss of critical thinking.

See also: Trump Derangement Syndrome, it is associated with the Russian Derangement Syndrome. Fortunately, refusing to watch western MSM has shown improvement to those afflicted.

"Let me repeat that the dictatorship of the Western elites targets all societies, including the citizens of Western countries themselves. This is a challenge to all. This complete renunciation of what it means to be human, the overthrow of faith and traditional values, and the suppression of freedom are coming to resemble a “religion in reverse” – pure Satanism. Exposing false messiahs, Jesus Christ said in the Sermon on the Mount: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” These poisonous fruits are already obvious to people, and not only in our country but also in all countries, including many people in the West itself.

The world has entered a period of a fundamental, revolutionary transformation. New centres of power are emerging. They represent the majority – the majority! – of the international community. They are ready not only to declare their interests but also to protect them. They see in multipolarity an opportunity to strengthen their sovereignty, which means gaining genuine freedom, historical prospects, and the right to their own independent, creative and distinctive forms of development, to a harmonious process.

As I have already said, we have many like-minded people in Europe and the United States, and we feel and see their support. An essentially emancipatory, anti-colonial movement against unipolar hegemony is taking shape in the most diverse countries and societies. Its power will only grow with time. It is this force that will determine our future geopolitical reality." -- Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Good observations both. That someone outside the EU will insure them. And that if we were willing to blow up that pipeline, would we torpedo or mine ships.

And of course, again it’s flirting with WWIII.
