I have actually watched a couple of games. After one 0 - 0 tie, I said to myself, why did I do that?

And having an advert where Megan Rapinho tells us that the beautiful game belongs to all of us doesn't help. Megan Rapinho hates me and hates this country. Why should I listen to anything she says?!

Put some sticks in their hands, let ‘em score some goals and make it fast paced and exciting…..lacrosse.

My husband sees no sense in soccer. He can’t understand a game that can end in a tie...

Attendance at soccer stadia, especially women’s and particularly outside U.S. cities with large foreign-born populations, is abysmal.

So consider me skeptical that Team USA’s two ties this month can augment the sport’s popularity. Four years ago, this group didn’t even qualify for the World Cup after embarrassingly losing to an island nation with a population smaller than Nebraska’s.

Every World Cup that the US qualifies for, we hear this is it, this will be the breakout for soccer in the US. Then the game promptly returns to dormancy.

I do wish we would win the World Cup once, because the reaction from the majority of Americans would be 'Huh? What?'.

Low scoring, and low excitement with a bunch of floppers…

Why would folks not want to watch that for 3 hours.

I watched the England-USA game the other day which ended in a 0-0 tie. I was glad to see that all the US players appeared to be singing along with the National Anthem (or at least mouthing the words), with their hands over their hearts.

Hoping that the US has a big win over Iran tomorrow. I'm old enough to remember the hostage crisis of 1979-1981.

I don’t have problems with 0-0 games, if they are well played. In baseball, such games are called pitchers’ duels. In football, defensive struggles. Maybe soccer is an equivalent, I dunno.

Anything soccer has to offer, hockey has at three times the speed and 10 times the toughness, Even WITH all that gear, hockey players STILL lose their teeth. I used to watch the Triple Crown Line on the LA Kings hockey team (Dionne, Simmer, Taylor) and the athleticism and grace was stunning. The same team had no defense to speak of, so poor goalie Rogie Vachon would get 40 shots on goal quite often. That’s exciting even if all of them get blocked, there’s real action even with no scoring. But I don’t know of 40 shots on goal in soccer ever happening.

I generally find soccer excruciatingly boring, but occasionally one can come across a match that’s not only interesting but even thought-provoking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfduUFF_i1A

I’ve photographed a few local games, at field level, where I can see the action up close. It can be a darn rough game! And I appreciate the passion for it some have.

That being said, it’s boring as sh^t

I used to have to play it in gym class, along with dodge ball and other games that I hated, such as football and baseball. My home team in Buffalo, The Bills, got a big boost when OJ Simpson joined it. Other than being a wife-beating, coke snorting creep, and a murderer, he could really move that weird-looking ball down the field.

Nope, as far as I’m concerned, it is played by illegals in the US. Find any community soccer game and I bet 90% are illegal. Deport them all, let them keep their soccer balls.
